Call to Worship JESUS, I COME Out of my bondage, sorrow and night,

Jesus, I come; Jesus I come.

Into Thy freedom, gladness and light,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my sickness into Thy health,

Out of my wanting and into Thy wealth,

Out of my sin and into Thyself,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my shameful failure and loss,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of earths sorrows into Thy balm,

Out of lifes storms and into Thy calm,

Out of distress into jubilant psalm,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of unrest and arrogant pride,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into Thy blessed will to abide,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,

Out of despair into raptures above,

Upward forever on wings like a dove,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,

Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into the joy and light of Thy home,

Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the depths of ruin untold,

Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,

Ever Thy glorious face to behold,

Jesus, I come to Thee. TEXT: William True Sleeper TUNE: Greg Thompson

Announcements

Processional GOD, MY KING, THY MIGHT CONFESSING

God, my King, Thy might confessing,

Ever will I bless Thy Name;

Day by day Thy throne addressing,

Still will I Thy praise proclaim.

Honor great our God befitteth;

Who His majesty can reach?

Age to age His works transmitteth,

Age to age His power shall teach.

They shall talk of all Thy glory,

On Thy might and greatness dwell,

Speak of Thy dread acts the story,

And Thy deeds of wonder tell.

Nor shall fail from memory's treasure

Works by love and mercy wrought;

Works of love surpassing measure,

Works of mercy passing thought.

4

Full of kindness and compassion,

Slow to anger, vast in love,

God is good to all creation;

All His works His goodness prove.

All Thy works, O Lord, shall bless Thee;

Thee shall all Thy saints adore:

King supreme shall they confess Thee,

And proclaim Thy sovereign power. Music by: Christian Friedrich Witt, 1715; adapted by Henry John Gauntlett (1805-1876).

Lector. This is the Word of the Lord.

People. Thanks be to God.

The Psalm Psalm 78

8

14 He led them with a cloud by day,

and all the night through with a glow of fire. 15 He split the hard rocks in the wilderness

and gave them drink as from the great deep. (Antiphon) 16 He brought streams out of the cliff,

and the waters gushed out like rivers. 17 But they went on sinning against him,

rebelling in the desert against the Most High. (Antiphon) 18 They tested God in their hearts,

demanding food for their craving. 19 They railed against God and said,

“Can God set a table in the wilderness? 20 True, he struck the rock, the waters gushed out, and the

gullies overflowed; but is he able to give bread

or to provide meat for his people?” (Antiphon) 23 So he commanded the clouds above

and opened the doors of heaven. 24 He rained down manna upon them to eat

and gave them grain from heaven. 25 So mortals ate the bread of angels;

he provided for them food enough. (Antiphon)

The Second Lesson Romans 8:35-39

Lector. This is the Word of the Lord.

People. Thanks be to God.

People. Praise to you, Lord Christ.

The Children's Sermon

The Sermon

Nicene Creed

Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed:

Celebrant and People

WE believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of

heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

WE believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from

Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one

Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For

us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was in-

carnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was

made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pi-

late; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he

rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended

into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He

will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and

his kingdom will have no end.

WE believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who

proceeds from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father

and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken

through the prophets.

WE believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We ac-

knowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look

for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to

come. Amen. The filioque [and the Son] is not in the original Greek text. Nevertheless, in the Western Church the filioque

[and the Son] is customary at worship and is used for the explication of doctrine [39 Articles of Religion].

10

Jot that Thought

The operative resolution of the College of Bishops concerning use of the filioque is printed with the Gen-

eral Instructions at the end of the Holy Communion, Long Form.

The Prayers of the People

LET us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church and the world.

ALMIGHTY and ever-living God, in your holy Word you have taught

us to offer prayers and requests, and to give thanks for all whom

you have made. We appeal to your mercy, Gracious Lord, that you

might hear our prayer.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

INSPIRE your universal Church by your Spirit, granting that all who

confess your holy Name may agree in the truth of your holy Word

and live in unity and godly love.

People. hear our prayer.

GIVE grace, heavenly Father, to all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons,

and especially to your servant(s) Foley, our Archbishop, Ray, our

Presiding Bishop, Daniel, our Bishop Ordinary, Peter, our Bishop

Co-Adjutor, Daniel, our Celebrant, as well as Candy, our Deacon-

ess, and Duane, our Postulant, that by their life and teaching, they

may proclaim your true and life-giving Word, and rightly administer

your holy Sacraments.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

HELP us to fulfill your great commission; making disciples of all na-

tions; teaching them to obey all that you have commanded.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

WE ask you to rule the hearts of all who govern us, (our President,

the Congress, the Supreme Court, our Governor and our military

leaders). May they administer justice, govern wisely, and strive for

the welfare and peace of the whole world.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

23

Thanks we give and adoration For the gospel's joyful sound: May the fruits of thy salvation In our hearts and lives abound: Ever faithful, ever faithful To thy truth may we be found; So that when thy love shall call us, Savior, from the world away, Fear of death shall not appall us, Glad thy summons to obey. May we ever, may we ever Reign with thee in endless day. Words attributed to John Fawcett (1739 – 1817) Public domain.

the Holy Spirit. Alleluia, Alleluia!

HEAVENLY Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiri-

tual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our

Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy myster-

ies that we are living members of the Body of your Son, and

heirs of your eternal kingdom. And now, Father, send us out

into the world to do the work you have given us to do, to love

and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him,

GRANT your heavenly grace to all people, especially these gathered

here, that with meek and reverent hearts, we may hear and trust

your holy Word, devoting our lives to your righteous service.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

WE humbly ask you, gracious Lord, to comfort and strengthen all

those who, in this earthly life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness,

or any other adversity.

**Reader. I invite you to add your own requests at this time.**

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

WE bless your holy Name for all your servants who departed this life

in your faith and fear, praying you would grant us grace to follow

their good examples, that with them we might partake in your heav-

enly kingdom.

People. hear our prayer.

GRANT these our prayers, O Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake, our

only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

The Confession and Absolution of Sin

WE pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins.

The Deacon and People kneel as able and pray

MOST merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in

thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we

have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we

have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and

we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have

mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and

walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

12

The Bishop or Priest stands and says

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has

promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and

with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon you, †pardon and de-

liver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all good-

ness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our

Lord. Amen.

The Peace

Celebrant. The Peace of the Lord be always with

you.

People. And with your spirit. Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.

Celebrant. Let us remember the words of our Lord Jesus

Christ and how he said, it is more blessed to give than to re-

ceive.

The Offertory I WILL OFFER UP MY LIFE

I will offer up my life

In spirit and truth,

Pouring out the oil of love

As my worship to You.

In surrender I must give

My ev'ry part.

Lord receive the sacrifice

Of a broken heart.

(Chorus)

Jesus what can I give,

What can I bring

To so faithful a friend

To so loving a King?

Savior what can be said

What can be sung

As a praise of Your name

21

Blessed be Your name When I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness Blessed be Your name Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise. When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say, "Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name. Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name." Blessed be Your name When the sun's shining down on me When the world's “all as it should be” Blessed be Your name Blessed be Your name On the road marked with suffering Though there's pain in the offering Blessed be Your name You give and take away You give and take away My heart will choose to say Lord blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name. Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name.

The Prayer of Humble Access

Celebrant and People praying together

WE do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trust-

ing in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mer-

cies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under

your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in

showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the

flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our

sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls

washed through his most precious blood, and that we may ever-

more dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Prayer of Consecration

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, in your tender mercy, you gave

your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our

redemption. He offered himself and made, once for all time, a per-

fect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He insti-

tuted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he

commanded us to continue until he comes again. So now, Father,

we ask you to bless and sanctify, with your Word and Holy Spirit,

these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his most

blessed Body and Blood.

ON the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took

bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it, X and gave it to

his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for

you: Do this in remembrance of me.”

AFTER supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks,

he gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood

of the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the

forgiveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance

of me.” THEREFORE we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Celebrant and People praying together

Christ has died.

Christ is risen.

Christ will come again.

The Celebrant continues

LORD and heavenly Father, with these holy gifts we celebrate the

memorial instituted by your beloved Son, remembering his passion

and death, his resurrection and ascension, and his promise to come

again. Grant that by his merits and death,

and through faith in his Blood, we and your whole Church may re-

ceive forgiveness of our sins and all other benefits of his passion,

making us one body with him that he may dwell in us, and we in

him. And here we offer to you, O Lord, our selves, our souls and

bodies, to be a living sacrifice, through Jesus Christ our Lord. BY

him and with him and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor

and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and forever. Amen.
