Call to Worship O Come, All Ye Faithful
O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Refrain
O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
God from God, Light from Light Eternal,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin's womb;
Only begotten Son of the Father; (refrain)
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest; (refrain)
See how the shepherds, summoned to His cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;
We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps; (refrain)
Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,
We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;
Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly? (refrain)

He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Celebrant and People praying together
Heavenly Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food
of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus
Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living
members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal king-
dom. And now, Father, send us out into the world to do the work
you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful wit-
nesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be
honor and glory, now and forever. Amen.
The Blessing
The peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts
and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus
Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you al-
ways. Amen.
THE RECESSIONAL Joy to the World
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
No more let sin and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing. (refrain)
Author Unknown. Public Domain. Announcements Lighting of the Christ Candle Almighty God and Father, on this night of all nights we are so very grateful for the love you lavished on us. You sent your Son Jesus Christ who humbled himself to be born of a virgin in mean surround-ings, and by this made a way for us to return to you. We bless you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and give you our love in response to all you have done for us. Amen.

Summary of the Law
Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ said.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great command-
ment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as
yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the
Prophets.

But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;

Silent Night
Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love's pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face with the dawn of redeeming
grace,

Communion Songs
It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
It came upon the midnight clear, that glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth, to touch their harps of gold: "Peace on the earth, good will to men, from heaven's all gracious King." The world in solemn stillness lay, to hear the angels sing. Still through the cloven skies they come with peaceful wings un-furled, And still their heavenly music floats o'er all the weary world; Above its sad and lowly plains, they bend on hovering wing, And ever o'er its Babel sounds the blessed angels sing. Yet with the woes of sin and strife the world has suffered long; Beneath the heavenly hymn have rolled two thousand years of wrong; And warring humankind hears not the tidings which they bring; O hush the noise and cease your strife and hear the angels sing. For lo! the days are hastening on, by prophets seen of old, When with the ever circling years shall come the time foretold, When peace shall over all the earth its ancient splendors fling, And all the world give back the song which now the angels sing. Words by: Isaac Watts, 1709, alt. Public Domain.
Away in a Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for his bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The Collect for the Persecuted Church
(Praying together )
O Lord God, whose Son Jesus Christ suffered and died for us and
in His resurrection restores life and peace to all creation; O Lord
God, our Redeemer, Defender, Protector, and Avenger, we pray for
Your people who are victims of violence and hatred and are op-
pressed and injured by their fellow humans. Give strength and en-
couragement to them by Your Holy Spirit. Look upon them and help
us to honor those who are suffering or have died in Your service.
Comfort their families and give them courage. Thwart the oppres-
sors and call them to repentance, but if they will not repent, we
commit them to Your justice. All this we pray through the same, Je-
sus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Collect for the Nativity of Our Lord
O God, you have caused this holy night to shine with the bright-
ness of the true Light: Grant that we, who have known the mystery
of that Light on earth, may also enjoy him perfectly in heaven;
where with you and the Holy Spirit he lives and reigns, one God, in
glory everlasting. Amen.
The Propers
The First Lesson Isaiah 9:1-7
Lector: This is the Word of the Lord.
Answer: Thanks be to God.
The Psalm PSALM 96

proclaim the good news of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations
and his wonders among all peoples. (Antiphon)
4 For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised;
he is more to be feared than all gods.
5 As for all the gods of the nations, they are but idols;
but it is the Lord who made the heavens. (Antiphon)

Oh, the power and the splendor of his sanctuary!

The Fraction (Breaking of the Bread)
Celebrant: Alleluia, Christ our Passover has been sacrificed once
for all upon the cross.
People: Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia!
The Prayer of Humble Access
Celebrant and People praying together
We do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trust-
ing in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mer-
cies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under
your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in
showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the
flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our
sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls
washed through his most precious blood, and that we may ever-
more dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.
The Agnus Dei (O Lamb of God)
14
your Word and Holy Spirit, these gifts of bread and wine that we
may partake of his most blessed Body and Blood.
On the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took
bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to
his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for
you: Do this in remembrance of me.”
After supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he
gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood of
the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the for-
giveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of
me.” Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
Lord and heavenly Father, with these holy gifts we celebrate the
memorial instituted by your beloved Son, remembering his passion
and death, his resurrection and ascension, and his promise to come
again. Grant that by his merits and death, and through faith in his
Blood, we and your whole Church may receive forgiveness of our
sins and all other benefits of his passion, making us one body with
him that he may dwell in us, and we in him. And here we offer to
you, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a living sacri-
fice, through Jesus Christ our Lord. By him and with him and in him,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty
Father, now and forever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Celebrant: And now as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold
to pray,
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy king-
dom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us
this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we for-
give those who trespass against us. And lead us not into tempta-
tion, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the pow-
er, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

ascribe to the Lord honor and power. (Antiphon)
8 Ascribe to the Lord the honor due his Name;
bring offerings and come into his courts.
9 Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;
let the whole earth tremble before him.
10 Tell it out among the nations: “The Lord is King!
he has made the world so firm that it cannot be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.” (Antiphon)
The Second Lesson Titus 2:11-14
Lector: This is the Word of the Lord.
Answer: Thanks be to God.
The Gradual
Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world;
They resound with God's own heart,
O let the ancient words impart;
Ancient words ever true
Changing me changing you
We have come with open hearts

The Children’s Story
The Sermon
Nicene Creed
Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven
and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally
begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he
came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the
Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified un-
der Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third
day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended
into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will
come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his king-
dom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who pro-
ceeds from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father and the
Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the proph-
ets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowl-
edge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resur-
rection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The Prayers of the People
Let us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church and the world.
Almighty and ever-living God, in your holy Word you have taught us
to offer prayers and requests, and to give thanks for all whom you
have made. We appeal to your mercy, Gracious Lord, that you
might hear our prayer.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
13
The Sanctus
Celebrant: Let us pray
The Prayer of Consecration ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father,
in your tender mercy, you gave your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer
death upon the cross for our redemption. He offered himself and
made, once for all time, a perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins
of the whole world. He instituted this remembrance of his passion
and death, which he commanded us to continue until he comes
again. So now, Father, we ask you to bless andsanctify, with

The Sursum Corda (Lift Up Your Hearts)
The People remain standing. The Celebrant faces them and sings or says
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is just and right so to do.
It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to
give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
Because you gave Jesus Christ, your only Son, to be born for us;
who, by the working of the Holy Spirit, was made truly man, taking
on the flesh of the Virgin Mary his mother; and yet without the stain
of sin, to make us clean from sin.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Arch-
angels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this
hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
9
Inspire your universal Church by your Spirit, granting that all who
confess your holy Name may agree in the truth of your holy Word
and live in unity and godly love.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
Give grace, heavenly Father, to all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons,
and especially to your servant(s) Foley, our Archbishop, Daniel, our
Bishop Ordinary, Peter, our Suffragan Bishop, Harry, our rector,
Candy, our deaconess, and Duane, our postulant; that by their life
and teaching, they may proclaim your true and life-giving Word, and
rightly administer your holy Sacraments.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
Help us to fulfill your great commission; making disciples of all na-
tions; teaching them to obey all that you have commanded.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
We ask you to rule the hearts of all who govern us, (our President,
the Congress, the Supreme Court, our Governor and our military
leaders). May they administer justice, govern wisely, and strive for
the welfare and peace of the whole world.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
Grant your heavenly grace to all people, especially these gathered
here, that with meek and reverent hearts, we may hear and trust
your holy Word, devoting our lives to your righteous service.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
We humbly ask you, gracious Lord, to comfort and strengthen all
those who, in this earthly life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness,
or any other adversity.
**Reader: I invite you to add your own requests at this time.**
10
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
We bless your holy Name for all your servants who departed this
life in your faith and fear, praying you would grant us grace to fol-
low their good examples, that with them we might partake in your
heavenly kingdom.
Reader: Lord, in your mercy,
People: hear our prayer.
Grant these our prayers, O Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only
Mediator and Advocate. Amen.
The Confession and Absolution of Sin
We pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins.
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in
thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we
have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we
have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and
we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have
mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and
walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
The Bishop or Priest stands and says
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has
promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and
liver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all good-
ness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
The Peace
Celebrant: The Peace of the Lord be always with you.
People: And with your spirit.
11
Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.
The Offertory
Celebrant. Let us remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and
how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.
The People stand while the offerings are presented.
Presentation Hymn: “Doxology”
Praise God from Whom all blessing flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Old One Hundredth, Public Domain
The Celebrant may pray the following prayer
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and
the victory, and the majesty: for everything in heaven and on earth
is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as Head
above all.
Praying together
All things come from you, O Lord, and of your own have we given
you. Amen. (1 Chronicles 29:11, 14)
Then the Celebrant will say,
Our fellow Christians of other branches of Christ’s Church, who
have been Baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Spirit, are affectionately invited to the Lord’s Table.
