*Lorn and Linda Larson you have been LIFE Group lead-ers for just about a dozen years already. Tell us a bit about your LIFE Group. Our LIFE Group meets at 8:15 on Sunday mornings in the second room in the first portable. Our time together starts with a few minutes to chat and share a light breakfast. We usually are reading a book that we dis-cuss. There is no homework for our group. Our current book study is the same one all the other LIFE Groups have just started titled “How To Read The Bible For All It’s Worth,” by Gordon Fee & Douglas Stuart. After our book time, we share prayer requests. We also host a campout at Fort Stevens State Park every August and have a few other get togethers throughout the year. We have a great mix of people in our group from ages 29 to 79. *In what personal interest/hobbies do you both enjoy participating? We both love going anywhere in our motorhome! Lorn takes a group of men to South Dakota to pheasant hunt every year.
He also takes a group to Front Sight in Nevada every year for a 4-day handgun training course. Linda prefers trips that don’t involve shooting something, like going to a lovely park to camp or visiting friends
*What have you both done in your employments?
Lorn owns and operates Larson Logging and Tree Ser-vice. Linda was a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines for 28 years before retiring to teach a Bible Study Fellow-ship class in Enumclaw.
*Are you both originally from Washington State?
We were both raised in Puyallup and met at Bethany Baptist Church.
*Would you tell us about your family?
Both of our moms attend church with us. Barb Baker is Linda’s mom and Jean Larson is Lorn’s mom. Our two sons also attend Christ Community. Benjamin and his wife Alissa have our three grandchildren, Paige, Jagger and Elias. Our son Kyle is single and works for First Choice Installation, a company that moves businesses and gets them set up in their new location. Our daugh-ter, Janae, is married to Dana Pirolo. Dana’s mom, Julie Luxem, is also in our LIFE Group. Janae and Dana live in Sumner and attend Bethany Baptist Church.

Brief Beliefs:
We believe the Church is the body of which Christ is the head and all who believe in Him are members (Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:4-5). Christians are commanded to be baptized upon profession of faith and to unite with a local church for mutual encouragement and growth in discipleship through worship, nurture, service and the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world (Acts 2:41-42, 47; Luke 24:45-48). Each church is a self-governing body under the lordship of Christ with all members sharing responsibility (Acts 13:1-3; 14:26-28). The form of government is understood to be congregational (Matthew 18:17; Acts 6:3-6; 15:22-23).
To Illustrate:
On November 26 at 6:00pm there is an Open Forum scheduled.
On December 10, also at 6:00pm, our Annual Church Business Meeting, will take place.
It is encouraged that all CCBC members attend both meetings.
The Open Forum is a time for free open discussion and questions regarding the 2018 church budget, as well as selection of elders & other church leadership positions.
Final decisions and voting will take place at the Annual Church Business Meeting, as we are indeed run by a congregational form of church government.

Q –When Jesus was in the Nazareth synagogue, why did Jesus antagonize these people
(Luke 4:28)?
A – Jesus’ barbed words succeeded in getting their full attention, which was apparently
part of his strategy to warn them of their sins. They were offended not only that he
would compare them to the faithless Jews of Elijah and Elisha’s time, but also that he suggested
that Gentiles could enjoy the blessings of God missed by the Jews – an unthinkable violation of
their cultural bias. At other times, Jesus dealt gently with people who were aware of their guilt and
wanted to find forgiveness.

Honest Questions/Answers: Pastor Gordon Bauslaugh
Confirmation Process for 2018 Each year at our Annual Congregational Business Meeting (This year Dec. 10 at 6pm) our next year’s elders are affirmed by the congregation. Constitutionally, part of the process of selecting our new year’s spiritual leaders calls for a 30-day comment period prior to our annual meeting. The following individuals are willing to serve as your church elders for 2018. Steve Amberg, Gordon Bauslaugh, Ozan Ferrin, John Golling, Wayne Mendel, Dan Mulkey, Jason Robinson, P.J. Tangedahl & DuWayne Weber. This thirty day period is for any church member who has a comment or question concerning any elder’s qualifications to serve, and are to be placed in writing as well as signed. You are invited to give your comments to any individual elder about any questions you might have concerning any of the elder’s qualifications to serve. Our church constitution reminds us that anything communicated must align itself with First Timothy 5:19-21 and will be handled as Matthew 18:15-17 prescribes.

Building Committee
Chairman
The Building Committee is considering the possibility of additional storage over ceiling space, and the kitchen layout as suggested by the kitchen designer. Barb Baker and Dan Mulkey met with Bargreen/Ellingson on kitchen design and equipment. We are also looking into the location of sound and media equipment in multi purpose room. We deferred our conversation on contract A104 until Stephen Robeson could finish reviewing it and make recommendations. *Childcare available for children 3 years old
