3.)What were some of their greatest accomplishments as a Christian Leader? Howspecifically did they make a difference as a Christian Leader? What were some of their

greatest failures and how did failure shape them as a Christian? Tomlin has one multiple

Dove awards, and is one of the leading worship artists today. He is the Christian

artist whose work is played and sung most often in U.S. church services every

Sunday. Tomlin has made and will continue to make a difference in peoples lives as

a Christian leader by bringing them together in the name of God, and connecting

people with Him in a convicting and unexplainable way.

In 2001, Tomlin recorded many albums with the Sixsteps, but had a hard time getting his

music on the air because very few radio stations (even Christian ones) played his kind of

worship music. This pushed him to further change even more peoples hearts, as he strived

to share the good news of the Gospel with the world through his music.

4.)What kind of impact did this person have on other people around them (both good andbad)? Give some specific examples of people who were impacted by their life.

When Tomlin isnt performing or on tour, he serves as the worship leader at the Stone

Community Church in Austin, Texas. Thus, a lot of people are hearing what he has to

share, and everything that he has to share is positive, uplifting, good news from God. He

greatly impacted the people of his congregation by being in touch with them not as a

celebrity, but as a fellow worshipper. He was always conscious of whether he was letting his

fame define him, and he wanted to make sure people were worshipping not him, but God

alone.

5.)Why do you consider this person good Christian leader? Why did you pick this personfor your case study?

I consider this person a good Christian leader because just listening to his music brings my

heart closer to God, and he generates such an energetic feeling of happiness that fills his

audiences minds and souls. I truly think he helps people see God more easily, and

therefore strengthens their faith even more. I picked Chris Tomlin for my case study

because I have seen how much work he has done at the Passion Conferences in particular.

People come back from that place transformed and reenergized.

6.)What are some ways that God specifically equip this person to be a Christian leader (ex.spiritual gifts, personality or character traits, etc.)

God gave Tomlin the wonderful gift of his voice, along with his talent on the guitar, which

he uses as his main instruments for all of his music.

God also gave Tomlin the gift of humility, as he truly wants people to worship God, not

himself. He is quoted as saying, When I play music I want to use every minute I've got for

God's glory. I don't want people to walk away saying, Wow, Chris Tomlin is amazing, but

rather, God is amazing." He is extremely humble, and is an excellent example of a true

servant of God.

7.)What were some of the personal experiences that help shape them into the leader theywere? (upbringing, parents, education, jobs, etc.)

If you think about how many people that Chris Tomlin has led in worship, its hard to

believe that he wouldnt realize how much of an impact he has on people, judging by how

they react to his music. Knowing that he himself has such an influence on the people

around him that they lift up their hands to reach out to God, this pushes him to sing even

more passionately.

One specific experience that served as a foundation for Tomlins musical talent was after

he contracted a case of mono at age eleven, his dad got him his first guitar. He first learned

A True Christian Leader

Chris Tomlin exemplifies the important major qualities that are associated with a

good Christian Leader. He is humble, faithful, and uses his musical talent as well as his love in

Christ to inspire others to grow in their relationship with God.

Firstly, Tomlin greatly values the aspect of putting God before yourself, and

worshipping Him and only Him. For someone who is as famous as himself, one can imagine how

hard it would be not be prideful and not forget that it is not about him, but its about Jesus. When

Tomlin leads people in worship, he wants to be sure that people are admiring only God, and not

him. This capacity for selflessness is what makes Chris Tomlin one of the greatest current

Christian leaders amongst the nasty, sinful world we live in.

Secondly, Tomlin utilizes not only his God-given musical talent, but also his

spiritual skill in praying to God during concert, and truly getting people engaged in the

experience. While listening to his music and the way he communicates with God, it is almost

impossible not to get the goosebumps and feel the love God has for us. He creates a spiritual

experience unlike any other, and is a great servant of the Lord.

To conclude, Chris Tomlin is the epitome of what a Christian leader should look

like. He has done significant work for God, and he has changed peoples lives with the sole

power of music.
