Hymn : 709 by Fred Pratt Green (1903-2000)

Of all the Spirit's gifts to me,I pray that I may never cease to take and treasure most these three:love, joy, and peace.

The Spirit shows me love's the rootof every gift sent from above,of every flower, of every fruit, that God is love.

The Spirit shows if I possess a love no evil can destroy;however great is my distress, then this is joy.

Though what's ahead is mystery, and life itself is ours on lease, each day the Spirit says to me,"Go forth in peace!"

We go in peace, but made aware that,in a needy world like this,

Prayers

(Hymn 370 : by Edwin Hatch (1835-1889))

Breathe on me, breath of God:fill me with life anew, that I may love as you have lovedand do as you would do.

Response after each bidding.

Breath of God:Breath on them now.

For those around us, Lord, we pray…For the lost and the lonely…For the ill and the dying….For the bewildered and confused…For the tortured and trafficked…For the abused and neglected…For the grieving and broken…For those who have given their all through this epidemic….

Breathe on me, breath of God,until my heart is pure, until my will is one with yoursto do and to endure.

Gracious God, ignite our prayers with the life-giving fire of Pentecost, that we may not fear our inadequacy, our hesitancy or our doubt, but bring before you all that we are, all that we have been, and all that we can be. May we know that we can never aim high enough, and never conceive anything complete enough, to prepare us for all you would bless us with – individually, as communities and as nations.Help us to gather together and wait for you afresh, trusting your love, mercy and forgiveness.

Breathe on me, breath of God;fulfil my heart's desire, until this earthly part of meglows with your heavenly fire.

Holy Spirit, send us out.Gentle Spirit, calm our fears.Spirit of truth, lead us to a broader vision of your work.Spirit of strength, in our weaknesses, make us strong.Spirit of power, show us when and how to act for you.Holy Spirit, send us out.

Breathe on me, breath of God;so shall I never die,but live with you the perfect lifeof your eternity. Amen

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Hymn : 397, by Damian Lundy (1944-1996)

The Spirit lives to set us free,Walk, walk in the light. He binds us all in unity,Walk, walk in the light.

Walk in the light, walk in the light,Walk in the light, walk in the light of the Lord.

Jesus promised life to all,Walk, walk in the light. The dead were wakened by his call,Walk, walk in the light.

He died in pain on Calvary,Walk, walk in the light. To save the lost like you and me,Walk, walk in the light.

We know his death was not the end,Walk, walk in the light. He gave his Spirit to be our friend,Walk, walk in the light.

The Spirit lives in you and me,Walk, walk in the light; His light will shine for all to see,Walk, walk in the light.

The Grace and the Vesper

The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and fellowship together in the Holy Spirit, be with us all, now and evermore.

Take, oh take me as I am; summon out what I shall be; set your seal upon my heart, and live in me. Repeat

Now let us all enjoy a cup of tea or coffee together.
