    chool Violence-A Brief Introduction

School violence is the term used to define violence or any form of arrogance that happens

inside a school. Some of the known forms of school violence are student gangs, bullying orraging the junior students, physical attacks on fellow students, physical attacks on the school

staffs etc. This is becoming a very serious issue in most of the schools around the world and

especially in the United States of America where the school violence rates are extremely high

with students possessing knives, guns and other weapons at will.In the earlier days, schools were the safest places for students and small kids. Students were

safer than they were at their homes because they were being monitored each and every

second by the school staffs and other fellow students. But it is no longer the same because of

the alarming increase of school violence inside the school premises. Another disturbing fact

about school violence is that the school authorities are not able to control such inclement

activities inside the school. Parents all over the world are concerned with this very serious issue

because their children are prone to be victims of school violence. There are lots of factors that contribute to this grave and distasteful activity happening in

schools. They include the role of parents, teachers, the friend circle of the student, the childs

mindset etc. But the reason that will be the deciding factor is however the role of the parents.

We all know that home is the first place where the child learns about proper behavior and a

proper attitude. So it is the duty of the parents to monitor their child all the time. They should

watch their children very closely, their attitude towards other fellow beings, whether he/she is

being rude or arrogant etc. Putting an end to such ill behavior of your child at the beginning will

decide on how well the child grows and grows out with a good attitude. Moreover a child should get the right kind of atmosphere to grow up in a manner that will be

pleasing to everyone. For example, an arrogant father can always lead your child in the same

path as well. A child at its early stages will have a tendency to look upon their parents and

follow their footsteps. They will inherit all the little things which the parents do. So, parents

should strive hard to make the atmosphere around the child as peaceful as possible. They

should also check whether their child is stressed out regarding certain matters in the schools or

certain issues with their friends etc and try to resolve them in order to avoid future problems.A violent child can be brought on the right track. All you need to do is to give him properattention and affection. There is nothing that will never bend to affection and love. So, try it out

and you will find your child improve by leaps and bounds. Also there are many online sites

which provide information and recommendations regarding school violence. Parents should

read them for a better understand and to cope with school violence to prevent it for good.

Violence the Need for Better Security in Schools

Security in schools is it enough? Perhaps the security in some schools can be better. Look at all the violence that

we have had in the schools of the United States. Not to mention the shooting, stabbings, and arguments the

students have with their peers and teachers now a days. It seems to me that the student teacher relationship has

died out. The student should have a very trustful relationship with the teacher so that he/she can come to the

teacher and talk or explain anything to the teacher about school or home. Now the National School Safety and

Security Services has a philosophy and it states OUR PHILOSOPHY: Youth violence is community issue. Schools

however do not create violence, nor are they solely responsible for solving it. We do believe, however, that

school officials should play a part in the overall solution and that there are balanced, practical risk reduction

measures which can be taken to secure the school environment so that education, prevention, and intervention

services can be delivered with a maximum level o effectiveness. They too have the same reasons that almost all

concerned parents and students have about security.

I dont think security in schools in enough and the reason for my opinion on that is because I can vouch for that

at my school I have seen people bring guns, knives and other objects to school with the intent of hurting another

student. When I was in middle school I did not think anything of it until one of my friends got beat with a chain

that someone had brought to school and then another student brought a gun cause he said he was going to kill

someone because he opened his mouth when he shouldnt have. These little things get looked over. The school

did nothing more than it used to keep the students safe from another incident like this. He works at the schools

and has been there for quite awhile and he thinks that the schools of today do not have the near enough the

security or safety precautions it should have. He also says the United States needs to wake up and learn from the

tragedys that has happened in schools. He thinks it is really sad that our country...

    Improve School Security

According to psychologist Abraham Maslow's 1943 paper A Theory of Human Motivation, every person has

five levels of basic needs that must be satisfied before self-satisfaction can be reached--safety being one ofthe more important. With the future in the hands of today's younger generations, they should most

definitely be assured the feeling of safety in order to achieve their fullest potential in this world. A minor in

America typically spends the most time in school than in any other establishment. Therefore, it is logical to

demand for proper security to be implemented in every school's budget. Especially today, when school

violence is more common than how it was five years ago, added security measures would not only create a

safer learning environment, but also prevent any future acts of danger; thus, the student mortality rate

would drop. The preventative actions would eliminate verbal and physical abuse, gang-related violence, the

usage of weapons, and possession of illegal substances. Already there are school systems that have a form

of security; however violence continues to silence its authority. With that being said, standards for school

security must exceed typical standards. In high schools across America, there should be at least one

security guard per major building of a school.

When it comes time for a school to choose a security guard, a lot of thought and effort must be put into the

process. The security guards should meet the qualifications set up by the school: work hours, experience, and reputation. Usually when a security guard is hired, they are asked to spend time before and time after

where they are working. At a school, the security guard should be on campus an hour before to monitor for

any suspicious acts before the school opens, and at least 2 more hours after the school closes to monitor for

the same. Experience should be a qualification met by security guards. A minimal of one previous job should

    be

Example Essay on Current Security in Schools

Currently the security aspect that the school incorporates that has been documented in the interviews is

only evident from the admin staff. That is that they keep Backups and they keep a copy of all passwords

that are required. The way backups are kept hasnt been documented and what procedures are in place to

ensure that all vital documentation such as student medical records copies of registers and so on are kept in

safe places hasnt been recorded.Only admin staff can access SIMS. Also it is stated that other users that want to use SIMS can do so by

using the heads password this could cause a problem, as then there is no tracking of who used the system

    and for what purpose.

There is no evidence to say how Internet use is restricted to prevent children from accessing out of bounds

web pages and what precautions are taken that children do not access chat rooms and other adult sites.

There are also wider dangers that adults with inappropriate intentions could use chat, e- mail and indeed

telephone and text message, as a means of anonymous communication with pupils. Data Protection Act the

school cannot publish pictures of children on their web page, this is to prevent the misuse of their images.

It is not documented what ant virus packages are being used and how often these are updated.

There is no documentation on regards to how the schools hardware and software are protected in terms of

theft, and how safe guards are taken to ensure that hardware isnt taken off the premises without prior

    consent.

Essay on Security Measures: Capital Plaza

The following are samples of security measures I would put up in Capital Plaza, a building situated in

    the city.

The first measure would be to secure the buildings perimeter. The perimeter refers to the buildings

surrounding environment. The perimeter can be secured by constructing high walls to surround the

building. This will act as a preventive measure against intrusion by thieves. Fences can also be

installed to beef up security. Installation of electric fences would be a better measure to ensure the

    perimeter is secure.

At the entrances and exits, gates will be set up. A combination of various security measures will be

put in place at the gates. These include guard patrols, alarms that are triggered by contact and

CCTV cameras. These will discourage intruders from attempting to enter the building. Effective

lighting shall also be placed at the entrances and exits. The lighting should focus to illuminate the

areas that are shadowed. Lighting is essential as it promotes visibility for the guards as they check

people entering the building, inspect vehicles and check badges.

The number of exits and entrances should be controlled so as to check on the flow of people

entering the building. To make it easier for employees to gain access to the building they shall be

provided with coded card keys. An alternative to this could be installation of push button

combination locks. This serves to distinguish employees from visitors or customers.

Different parking lots for employees and visitors shall be put in place. This will not only reduce

congestion but it will also make it easier for the guard patrols. It will be easier to locate the vehicle

of an intruder as the cars belonging to employees will be at a different location.

Inside the building its doors will be made of either metal or solid wood. This is because these

materials are hard to break down. The hinges of the doors will be fitted on the inside to prevent

removal of the hinges. The doors security will additionally be improved by installing either bars or

grills. The doors will also be secured by a cylinder lock or padlock.

Windows too can be access points for intruders hence security measures should be put to make

them more secure. The window frame will be tightly fastened to the building. The windows will have

a lock such as a locking bolt, slide bar, or crossbar with a padlock. Just like the doors, the windows

will have bars or grills to secure them.

The building will also have a professional security station. The security station will be manned by

professional security guards. All the buildings alarms and cameras will be controlled from thesecurity station. The CCTV cameras will not only be installed at the gates but also inside the

building. Every floor in the building will be installed with atleast three cameras. The alarms will be

contact alarms meaning that they will go off immediately an intruder touches them.

The building will have an exterior fire escapes. The fire escapes will provide access to the roof or to

openings that are above ground level. Windows, doors and other openings off the fire escapes will

be easily opened from the inside. None of the fire escapes will extend all the way to the ground.

A security guard should be placed to observe the compound. Another security measure would be to

put up warning signs or notices to prevent people from trespassing.
