Under local anaesthetic, a series of dissolvable threads are inserted directly under the skin, the subcutaneous tissue, to lift the skin upwards. At the same time, collagen and elastin production is increased, so that when the threads dissolve, a new self- supporting skin structure takes its place. “It gives a natural facelift and the results last up to five years,” says Dr Buddy. Treatments take around an hour and downtime can be just a few days. The treatment uses radio frequencies to heat the dermis, tightening existing collagen fibres and stimulating growth. Because only the dermis is affected, there’s no redness and you can return to work straight away. “It’s a lunchtime treatment and you can see the results immediately,” says Dr Buddy. Each treatment takes between 30 and 90 minutes, with results lasting from three to five years. IF YOU WANT… A COMBINATION LIFT Have some pesky wrinkles or age spots you want to deal with? The Fotona Twinlight treatment uses a combination of lasers to tighten and lift the skin while also treating flaws such as wrinkles, scars and pigmentation. “It offers a combination of skin rejuvenation with laser skin tightening,” says Dr Buddy. Four treatments are required, usually held one to two months apart. “There’s downtime of just a few days and the effects last several years,” says Dr Buddy.
