WINTER ALERTS
Winter alerts can be categorized into three basic categories (each of which can occur in
combination with another):
Precipitation alerts:
Snowfall – significant snowfall
Snow Squall – when cold air moves across larger open bodies of water (such as the Great
Lakes) creating nearly stationary bands of cloud and snow
Freezing Rain/ Drizzle – when rain or drizzle falls onto sub-zero surfaces and freezes on
contact forming a layer of ice
Rainfall – significant rainfall
Winter Storm - issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur
together
Cold Alerts:
Wind Chill – wind or cold on their own may not be hazardous, but the combination of the
two may warrant issuing this type of alert
Flash Freeze – issued when a rapid drop in temperature causes water from rain or melted
snow on streets, sidewalks etc. to quickly freeze
Cold Weather Alert - issued when the low temperature is forecast to drop to -15 C or 5 F.
Overexposure can lead to frost bite and hypothermia. Seek shelter, so stay inside when it’s
this cold.
Poor Visibility alerts:
Blizzard – issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving widespread
reduced visibility of 400 metres or less
Blowing Snow – issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor
visibility of 800 metres or less

RE: UNITY
Anishnabek Run, Walk Paddle, Ride Relay and Paddle.
“In honor of our Ancestors, here and never forgotten.”
__________________________________________________________________________
The celebration run, walk, ride, paddle is an opportunity for First Nations in the South
Western Ontario to gather at a time Canada is having its 150th birthday celebrations. The
intent is more awareness and sharing with the non-indigenous community, of our history on
Turtle Island. The Aamjiwnaang Heritage club invites interested individuals and groups to be
part of the event. The projected time frame is mid-July, with meetings happening bi – weekly
until then. We would like to travel the route of our traditional territory, but are open to
suggestions. Sweat equity, donations and participants are required for such a big event and
we look forward to meeting those interested in becoming involved in this project.
To contact our group about the project or request related information: Call, text or email:

Paper Tigers - Saturday, February 18 @ 7:00 p.m. Sarnia Justice Film Festival hopes you will join us on Saturday, February 18 at 7pm for the screening of "Paper Tigers" at Sarnia Library Theatre Paper Tigers demonstrates how through understanding childhood trauma one caring adult can help break the cycle of adversity in a young person’s life.
In search of clear and honest answers, Paper Tigers hinges on a remarkable collaboration between subject and filmmaker. Armed with their own cameras and their own voices, the teens of Paper Tigers offer raw but valuable insight into the hearts and minds of teens pushing back against the specter of a hard childhood. At the crossroads of at-risk teens and trauma-informed care, Paper Tigers takes root. Set within and around the campus of Lincoln Alternative High School in the rural community of Walla Walla, Washington, Paper Tigers asks the following questions: What does it mean to be a trauma-informed school? And how do you educate teens whose childhood experi-ences have left them with a brain and body ill-suited to learn? https://vimeo.com/110821029 Conversation leaders for Paper Tigers will be: Gayle Montgomery is the Circles® Coordinator for the County of Lambton Social Services Division. Bob Sutton counselled secondary school students for over 30 years, and was Head of Student Services until his retirement and Ellie Fraser who is the mental health lead for Lambton Kent District School Board.

1 John 4:4
You are from God and have overcome
them, for he who is in you is greater than he
who is in the world.
When you get to know God, you come to
trust his power in your life. When disap-
pointment pulls a cloud over your heart,
you know God is able to bring you again to
a clear and bright day. When you fail at
something you were determined to achieve,
you know God is able to move you forward
in hope and confidence. Whatever happens,
you know God is with you to help you.
When you are certain of God’s help, you
can face anything. When you know God’s
power is your strength, you can stand any-
thing. You can fall and not despair because
you know God will lift you up.
God, who raised Jesus from the dead, brings
you the victory of new life every day.

On behalf of our families, Williams & Redman, we wanted to express
how genuinely thankful we are for all the support we received as we
grieved the loss of our sweet baby grandson, Bowie Randall Norman.
It’s the love of one huge “family,” which is Aamjiwnaang that has
been a true blessing. Although our hearts will never be completely
healed, it’s because of our community we will find strength and
peace.
Thank-you for all the kind words, flowers, food and love.
And Chi Miigwech to Joanne, Nim, Lightning & Noodin for fulfilling
Jenny and Bobby’s requests, it meant the world to them.
Love & Respect
Leanne & Randy Williams
