The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change is taking an enhanced ap-proach to inspecting industrial facilities, with a focus on petrochemical and petrole-um refining companies near the Aamjiwnaang First Nation community. While levels of contaminants in the Sarnia and Aamjiwnaang First Nation area, such as benzene and sulphur dioxide, have greatly decreased over the last 20 years, there is a need to continue to drive improvements in local air quality. To protect local air quality the ministry is implementing a three part action plan that was developed based on community input, air quality monitoring results, and infor-mation from engineering assessments. The plan identifies six priority contaminants including benzene and sulphur compounds that are the focus of the ministry’s ef-forts. One of the key parts of the action plan is conducting enhanced inspection work. This involves targeting additional equipment and processes at industrial facilities that could be impacting air quality. “We’re taking a new and innovative approach to how we conduct inspections of petrochemical and petroleum refining companies to ensure all reasonable actions are taken to protect our air quality” says Michael Moroney, District Manager at the Sarnia District Office of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change. A dedicated team of environmental officers are conducting inspections of above ground storage tanks to ensure the tanks are maintained by the company and that measures are in place to prevent emissions. The officers are also taking a closer look at ways to minimize vapours being released during the loading and unloading of fuel products. Wastewater treatment plants and flares are other high priority ar-eas that are being included in the enhanced inspections. These added measures will help protect the natural environment around the Aam-jiwnaang First Nation community for traditional land use such as fishing, hunting and community gatherings for many generations to come. For more Information on the ministry’s enhanced inspection activities of petrochemical and petroleum refin-ing companies please call Michael Moroney at 519-383-3780.

Enbridge’s Public Awareness Program
In the coming weeks you will be receiving the Pipeline Safety and Emergency Information for our Neigh-
bours brochure in the mail. This brochure is mailed to those who live and work in proximity to our liquids
pipeline system. Like all pipeline operators in Canada and the United States, Enbridge is required by law to
have a public awareness program—but public awareness is about much more than compliance. It’s about
providing information to the people who live and work near our pipelines—so they know how to identify
our pipelines, know how to recognize a potential pipeline release (and respond, should such an incident oc-
cur), and understand what we do to keep their communities safe.
Given our thorough maintenance, testing, training, monitoring and safety programs, a pipeline leak is unlike-
ly. Our brochure provides you with important information about the warning signs of a potential leak, and
instructions on how to respond in the event of an emergency.
When living or working near a pipeline, it is important to be observant of unusual sights, sounds and odours
and immediately report anything out of the ordinary by calling Enbridge’s 24-hour emergency number.
Know the warning signs
You might see:
A moist patch or pool of black liquid… it may be crude oil.
A moist patch or pool of light brown or yellow liquid… it may be synthetic crude oil or condensate.
A steam-like cloud, or a frost-like appearance on the ground… it may be a natural gas liquid.
You might hear:
A roaring, blowing or hissing sound… it may be a pipeline leak.
You might smell:
An odour similar to gasoline or diesel fuel… it may be a refined oil product.
An odour similar to gasoline, but much stronger and less pleasant… it may be natural gas liquid.
What to do in an emergency
If you see, smell or hear any of the warning signs, please immediately do the following:
1. If you can do so safely, turn off any mechanized equipment. Move as far away from the leak as possible
in an upwind direction.
2. Avoid contact with escaping liquids and gases
3. Call 911
4. Call the toll-free, 24-hour Enbridge emergency number: 1-877-420-8800
5. Follow instructions provided to you by Enbridge and local emergency responders

Love your children and yourself uncondi-tionally, with deep appreciation and rever-ence for life within. Know that every chal-lenge you or they encounter in life carries with it a gift, an opportunity to discover and strengthen your awareness of your own light and inner qualities. Let your light shine, and know that as you do so your children will feel free to shine their own light in this world. As we reclaim our light and our personal power, the world becomes a brighter place. There is no need to drag people kicking and screaming out of the darkness and into the light. We need on-ly let our light shine as a welcome invitation to others to do the same. This is a revolution from within, and together we leave the darkness behind.
Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our
God;
For it is pleasant, and praise is
beautiful.
