Windy City Beefs N Dogs located at 7500 W. Lake Mead (just off Buffalo) is the realization of former Chicagoan Tim Korney's lifelong dream of opening a hot dog/beef joint. "When I found myself living in Las Vegas, that's when I realized I had to bring our Chicago style food and beef culture here. " said Tim. With my wife Kathy and my mom Barbara at my side, we embarked on finding a location!" The rest my friends is history. WCBND is a perfect replica of a typical "beef stand" back home. A hand full of tables, "da" counter and some outside seating. Tim makes his own Beef using his special herbs and rubs and recently launched Papa's Brand of giardinerra which is available for purchase at WCBND & WCBNP. Windy City Beefs-N-Dogs 7500 W. There are no McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts or Burger Kings to muddle the landscape. Cuba is pure Cuba, NOW. The people, the cars, the landscape and the traditions are amazing. Currently you must travel on a charter with a cultural exchange which makes it very unique. The people are generous with information about their lifestyle and history. Some neighborhoods look like the Garden District in New Orleans, some are magnificent facades that are being refurbished and some are in ruin. The food, the music, the old cars and mostly the generosity of the people paint a colorful picture that you should see before it changes. We were lucky enough to visit Ernest Hemmingway’s Estate. You can experience the breezes running through the house on the hill, see where he wrote and get an insight into his life. Life happens! There's no doubt about it. When you least ex-pect it, here comes the wrench...right? We've all been there. Making

the decision to ask forfor personal assistance takes courage. When in all actuality, you are present-ing an opportunity for someone else to experience the joy of giving. Recently a Social Member was in this situation and started a GOFundMe account for herextremely ill dog. It's what happened next that is so unique. She contacted her former Chicagoan Chamber for help. We reached out to our business commu-nity. Thank you EXPERT FLOORING SOLUTIONS for matching each dollor raised and to G & B FENCE and SHA-RON WAYNE of doTERRA for your donations. Together - you saved a dogs life!

Kelly Gaines has been a Chicagoans In The Desert business member for almost a year. She is quickly making her way around Vegas after only being here a little over one year. She grew up in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago for over 20 years, later living in downtown neighborhoods like Lakeview and Streeterville. So, what's she doing in Las Vegas? Well, one you can't beat the weather and two because she is has been helping local business owners navigate their way through a tough industry that had them cringe over this part of their business....credit card processing.

Security, technology and fair pricing, are just a few things that make her and the company she worksfor, Heartland Payment Systems vastly different than everyone else. However, what locals have experienced as the biggest difference is the Honesty and Transparency. Heartland was founded on fair, honest and transparent pricing, thus over 250 national and state associations now exclusively endorse the company, one including our very own Nevada Restaurant Association. It isn't hard to see that the company's values aligned with Kelly's Midwestern values and together have been educating businesses all over the valley. Take a look at her business card; you'll see the 312 area code, which is quickly spotted by any Chicagoan! This shows her dedication to her clients and business community of Las Vegas. So,what's going on these days in credit card? A little thing called EMV, you know that thing that has to do with cards with the chip in them. Well, there are people and companies that are pushing business owners into myths and lies about it that could cost them too much! Do not panic and do not change anything. Feel free to contact Kelly at 312-919-5212 to take a little time to talk to Kelly and get the real scoop! #creditcard #processing #heartland #former #chicagoans #inthedesert #shopchicagoan #wetakecareourown #businessmembers

Calling all Former Chicagoan Ghoulies! Get your cos-tume together for this year’s Halloween “Boneyard Bash” at the Neon Museum! The theme for this year is “Haunted Fairy Tales”. Use your imagination or dress up as you like! All costumed Ghoulies are welcome. Or just come as you are. (A costume is optional but why pass up the opportunity?) When: Friday, October 30, 2015 Time: 7:00pm - ??? Where: Neon Museum, 770 Las Vegas Boulevard North (next door to Cashman Center)Our Business Member, Deena Bogan says: “I have been a volunteer at the Neon Museum since I moved to Las Vegas in 2011 and I’ve worked at this event every year since 2012. Take it from me, the Boneyard Bash is one of the funnest events you’ll ever attend. And re-ally – who doesn’t like to dress up in a costume the one time a year when you won’t look out of place?” Thank you Deena for volunteering in our community. NETWORKINGPicking the "right" event to mar-ket your product or service can be tricky. Lucky for me, this year it wasn't! A fellow former Chicago-an, Ace Fair had suggested I look into Las Vegas' Largest Mixer. Celebrity PhotoBooth & I con-tacted Dave Linden, Producer of LVs' Largest Mixer. Dave met with us right away. Dave was on time, pleasant & extremely professional. More importantly (to me anyway) was Dave had class. There was no high pressure sell. What there was...was Dave and his Mixer...in it's 11th year. At the end of our meeting Dave revealed to us that he too grew up in Chicago!
