Dawn Michelli began smoking when she was 13 years old. She experienced her rst hear
attack at the age of 39. Yes, you read that rightthe age of 39. With great detail, her doc-
tor explained to her the health ramications to her body should she choose to continue
smoking. And yet, during her recovery, she found herself sneaking a cigarette. This wasthe moment she discovered she was addicted to nicotine. Once home, she tried coldturkey. Didnt work. She tried cutting down, Didnt work. She tried prescriptions
Didnt work.
One day, a friend mentioned to Dawn that they had heard from a friend of a friend of afriend about a new thing called electric cigarettes or vaping. In her desire to control
her addiction to nicotine, Dawn spent the next three months investigating every avenue of
the subject of vaping. Her rst vaping experience cost her over $300. Yes, you read that
right$300. Clearly, in 2005 vaping was a gimmick and only available thru a very fewinternet sites. I was frustrated, claims Dawn. As I continued to investigate vaping,
realized a couple of things. One, the people behind these website didnt care about nicotine
addiction, and two, I know I can create something much better. And did she ever!! In2006, with her sister Santina by her side, Dawn started her on-line business DIYFlavor-
shackUSA.com. She was now not only selling her mixes to the hundreds of e-cigarette
stores that were popping up, she was selling to those same internet sites she had originallyinvestigated! To date, Dawn has created over 340 avors. In 2009 Dawn became the 1s
recipient of the VAPEY Award. She has become an Industry Leader is the education of vape
mixology and a Community Leader for Vapors, people who vape. She has trained and
mentored over 10 of the top selling Vape companies in business today. In 2012, Dawn, along with her sister Santina hit a new milestone with the opening of their
rst retail/wholesale store, DIY Flavorshack located at 3231 N. Decatur Blvd.

Some Cubs fans are excited; the Ricketts family is going to spend $500 million dollars torenovate Wrigley Field. If youre behind on your news, the reported renovations are to
include a massive LED scoreboard out in left-eld, a large neon sign in right-eld, $175-
room boutique hotel, an ofce building with clock tower, an open-air plaza, and a large
video advertising board. All of which is expected to take roughly ve years to complete
How do Cubs fans feel about all of it, hard to say exactly. Litigation has been threatened by the
rooftop club owners who signed a deal with the Cubs in 2004, which gives the Cubs 17 percent
of their gross revenues; they dont want a giant LED sign blocking the view for their patrons.Patrons of the park may have mixed views about the renovations. Tearing down and mixing up
the original look and views inside of the park might upset some and excite others. The park wasVictoria Kaer, Author &

designated a historical landmark by the Chicago City Council on February 1, 2004, however the entire park was not
included in the designation. The four exterior walls, roofs, the marquee sign at the corner of Clark and Addison
streets, the center eld scoreboard, the grandstands and bleachers, and the brick wall and ivy surrounding the
playing eld, were the only things included. The White Sox lost Comiskey Park in its entirety. Yet, Comiskey
was by comparison older, having opened in 1910, to Wrigleys 1914 opening date. Both contained a whole lot of
baseball history and memories. It was a sad day when Old Comiskey was lost. Personally as a White Sox fan
its dearly missed. Yes, the new park is bright, shiny, and amazing, but it lacks the smells and the history the old
park held. I dont care what they wish to call the new park; it will always be Comiskey Park to true fans of the team.
You simply cant get the feel of all the history that the old park contained in that brightly lit, spacious new park
they designed. Its sad that new generations will miss out on all of it; theyll never see the eld where the Black
Sox threw the World Series, where baseballs rst All -Star game was played. You dont get that at the new park.
Well make new history, sure. But its a shame to toss out the old simply to move on because we think we need bigger
and better, sometimes bigger isnt necessarily better. Lets hope the Ricketts family keeps the real feel of Wrigley eld
as well as the history of the park intact. It would be a shame to lose all of that so it becomes only a faded memory
SO LONG OLD WRIGLEY FIELD
In June our business member Pete Torsiello of Luxe Realty requested we meet him at Omelet House Summerlin for abreakfast meeting. During that meeting CITD, LLC was introduced to former Chicagoan and Chef, Igs Sessa. Pete
