war,” and a talent/comedy show
called Chi Phactor.
We received
participation from all five
sororities on campus and we
were able to raise over two
thousand dollars to donate to
MADD, Mothers Against Drunk
Driving.
Chi Phactor, our
largest event of the week, was a
talent and comedy show put on
and hosted by brothers. The
head of the Office of Fraternity
and Sorority Life was in
attendance, as well as some of
the women from MADD’s
Jacksonville office. We received
praise from all of our VIP guests,
especially from our partners
from MADD, whom were very
impressed. The show was then ended with a special
performance from two of our brothers, Brother
Publicover and Brother Butler.
Overall, our philanthropy week was a
success, and marked our first successful philanthropy
week in years.
are proud to announce that our
chapter has become Accredited
with Distinction for the Spring
2014 semester. After going three
semesters without being
accredited, our chapter has been
placed within the top 10% of all
Chi Phi Chapters nationwide.
Special recognition should be
given to Brother Publicover and
Brother Anderson, who really
dedicated themselves to our
accreditation report. Without
them, this wouldn’t have been
possible.
During the Fall Semester, the
Omega Zeta Chapter of Chi Phi held the
lowest average GPA of all UNF fraternities.
We are pleased to announce, however, that
after just one semester, we went from dead
last to first place among fraternities on
campus. We made an average semester GPA
of 3.00 and we brought our cumulative GPA
up to a 2.99, With a 3.00, we matched the
All Panhellenic Council GPA and outscored
the All Undergraduate Semester GPA, the
All Men’s Average GPA, the All Inter-
Fraternity Council GPA, and several others.
This accomplishment saved our
chapter from going onto academic probation,
and will help us to claim a top tier spot on
campus. This wouldn’t have been possible,
however, without our internal focus on
Academics
academics this past semester. We
encouraged all brothers to log library hours,
study together, go to every class, and to not
let our GPA’s drop under any condition.
What we saw however, was not brothers
being forced to do these things, but all of our
brothers actively working together to
correct this embarrassing, and possibly
threatening, problem.
We all pulled together and
buckled down on our work, and our GPA
reflects that. Our academic plan for the Fall
semester will be even stricter than that of
our Spring semester to ensure that we keep
our GPA up, and to remain at the top of the
academic ranks.

After our successes in the Spring Semester, the brothers of the Omega Zeta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity want to
make sure we keep our success alive. Therefore, we have set forth a number of goals for the Fall Semester. Our main focus in the
spring was internal, and therefore we are planning on switching to an external focus in the fall. We are planning on keeping a large
focus on academics, however. Our goals for the Fall semester are simple. We plan on holding more brother and alumni activities,
because we know that nothing we do would be possible without support from our alumni. Also, we want to have at least one date
function, shoot for a twenty-member rush class, and we want to participate more in on campus events, such as the basketball tailgates.
On the serious side of things, we are looking to have zero GPA’s under 2.5 and to get our overall GPA within the top three Greek
organizations on campus. Also, we are looking to get all of our dues in as early as possible, develop an organized calendar of events
early in the semester, and to work on leadership development within the chapter. We are hoping that the Fall Semester will bring just
as much, if not more, success as the spring.
