Mark Bettinger

Illinois District Director

After working in the medical field for 12 years, God called Jenn and I and our family (Mady age 11, twins Samuel and Hannah, age 9) into world missions in South Africa serving orphans and vulnerable children. But we were called off the foreign mission field in 2014 due to complications from a chronic lung disease, Cystic Fibrosis, that I was born with. We pioneered Chi Alpha at Eastern Illinois University in 2015 and were brought on as the Illinois DXARs earlier this year. I’m an avid Chicago Bears fan, love to read, travel and take walks with our dachshund, Bob.

In 2017, Janelle was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. This forced her off-campus for the school year and threw a definitive wrench in their “plans” for the year. During that time, God directed Janelle to be a “beacon of hope in trying times” and to demonstrate to others how to “trust God in our trials”. They are both back on campus this school year and thankful for all God has done.
