Brethren, As we celebrate President’s Day this year, let’s give special attention to our founding fathers and the legacy left by them. I am thankful for the privilege to live in this great experiment, and I remain optimistic of how we as a nation will unfold. We are the ones, right here and now that will determine how this chapter will be written. The stones we lay today will determine the country of the future. One area I would like us to focus on this year is our charitable outreach. Brother Anthony Latta is heading the Charities Committee, and we need to support him in this endeavor. What is needed now are more ideas. AFAC and ASPAN have become the “same old business”. Your thoughts on different approaches to our two main charities are welcome as well as ideas for new charitable opportunities that raise our visibility in the community. Feel free to share your ideas with Brother Anthony or me. Just as important, charity starts at home. If you know of anyone, more especially an older Mason, a widow, or an orphan, that needs assistance, let the lodge know. Brother Gregory Harrison-McQueen has taken the lead on the widows program. In December, gifts were delivered to widows, which included a card, chocolates, and the Blue Slipper lapel pin, a charming story you can read about on the internet. I can tell you from my personal experience with this program, that the look on the widow’s face when a Mason is at the door with these gifts is priceless. It is these acts of benevolence that make this fraternity so rich. And, although we do these acts altruistically, a benefit does accrue to us as well in strengthened character. We are hoping to have some widows present at our first stated in February to enjoy a delightful dinner and an exciting program. Brother Gregory has sent the invitations, and by the time this newsletter is posted, we will have undoubtedly heard from several of our widows. Some may need assistance in getting to and from the lodge. I hope you are able to help if that is the case. We have the special honor of nominating a District Deputy Grand Master and an alternate for the 2021 Masonic year. Nominations will be accepted February 21. Balloting will be conducted March 21. The final report will delivered to the Grand Lodge no later than May 1. February is an interesting month in that it has the ironic characteristic of ever more sunlight, while still remaining bitterly cold – a bit of contradiction. But, don’t let the cold prevent you from en-joying an enlightened presentation by Worshipful Dr. Mark Dreisonstok. He and his daughter will be providing the melodious sounds of Mozart on Feb. 7. And, on Feb 12, a fraternal visit is planned to Kemper-Macon Ware. We complete the month on the 21st with Worshipful John Hub-ble’s presentation on “Thoughts on Masonry”.

Wor. Jason Richards of Acacia Lodge gave a fantastic presentation on the history of Freemasonry and how it evolved from an operative to a speculative practice. Among the insights he shared was that we
might not know the actual age of the Grand Lodge of England. It was an interesting evening.

Secretary’s Corner I am having trouble getting in touch with some brothers. The following have had mail returned to me more than once. Please let me know if you can help me contact these brothers:
Kenneth R. Allen Henry Peck Ames, Jr.
William Delzell Beane Kenneth Allen Buchanan Sholom Harold Friedman Erich Christopher Lyman
Edward Joseph Oliver Robert Cyril Robinson Juston Junior Trivett
And these widows:
Norma Gransee Betty Null
For now I am removing these brothers and widows from our mailing list but hope to get information on their current statuses and contact infor-mation. I need an assistant secretary to help me with a few tasks, including taking minutes when I am out a couple meetings this year and possibly helping with some filing. If you are interested, please let me know. Jeff Ameen al-so needs an assistant treasurer. These are roles to help with some current tasks, as well as to get someone to learn what we do in case we need someone to take over our roles. Redundan-cy is a good thing. Thanks, Carl Weaver Secretary
