Created to Worship, Redeemed to Worship

God the Creator made us to worship Him. True worship of the living God is what really fulfills and satisfies the soul. And we will always worship, the only question is what is it that we will worship? If we fail to keep the LORD really in first place in our lives, we will end up worshipping false gods, and we will break the second commandment of the Lord, “You shall not bow

down to them or worship them (false gods); for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments” (Ex. 20:5, 6). Those who fail to worship God regularly by each week gathering somewhere with His people for worship end up letting other things take the place of that worship. God views that as hatred expressed toward Him. He created us for worship and He redeems us as we truly trust in Him so that we will worship Him in spirit and in truth. All who fail to prioritize worship in their lives and who do not keep it highest priority in their lives end up letting other things take the place of the One who should be their first love. Jesus said to the Ephesians in Revelation 2:4, “This I hold against you: you have forsaken your first love.” Whenever we let something else take the place of our first love, we are actually expressing hatred to God. That is the way He tells us that He sees it in Exodus 20:6. Jesus, our Savior, redeemed us to worship Him. Jesus gave His all for us and He expects us to truly give our all to Him. What takes higher priority in your life than Him? Does money? Are you failing to obey His command to “bring the whole tithe into the storehouse”? Why? Have you let “unrighteous mammon” take a higher place in your life and, as a result, become the thing you serve and bow before? Many make that mistake. Jesus warned us this was one of the great false gods. He taught that, “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” We must also guard our hearts from other things that can take first place in our lives. If you are struggling in truly keeping God first in your life, be sure to come to Him and seek His forgiveness for that this morning. Take time to commit yourself to truly obey Him and follow His plan for your life. He has promised that He will open the floodgates of heaven and bless those who do (Mal. 3:10)! Give yourself wholly to the Lord. The devil will whisper in your heart as though it were your own thoughts, “I can’t do that. What would happen to me if I really gave myself fully to the Lord?” Or if money is the struggle in your life, he may whisper something like, “Giving a tithe to the Lord is impossible.” Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy of your soul! Those who truly give themselves fully to the Lord are the ones who experience His great and wonderful blessings in this life and also the many wonderful rewards awaiting them in the kingdom. So many have proved the LORD true in these areas of faith. Won’t you as well? Worship the Lord with all your heart. Express your supreme love for Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength in worship. It truly will transform your life!

For His glory alone forever,

Pastor Jack

Annual Missionary

Money Tree

It’s time again for our Annual Missionary Money Tree Offering! Each year at Mahaffey Family Camp during

Missionary Day, we give envelopes with a cash gift to our missionaries who are arriving from the mission field or preparing to return to the field again. These servants of

Jesus need to set up home in the US for the year and then buy supplies for a four-year term overseas. Would you join

us in blessing the missionaries once again this year?

Today, July 8th, is the last Sunday to make a

contribution to the Money Tree. If you wish to contribute, please make your check payable to Cherry Tree Alliance Church and clearly mark that it is for the “Money Tree”

and place it in the offering. Thank you!

Newsletter Articles Due

Please note that all newsletter articles for the August/September newsletter are due to the

church office by Sunday, July 22nd. Thank you!

Church Softball Team

Come out to a game and cheer on our team! Pick up a schedule on the information table

in the foyer.

Annual Church Picnic

Our Annual Church Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, August 19th at Franklin Community

Park (also known as Flatwoods Pool and Pavilion). Please make plans to join us!

More information to come soon.

New Photo Directory for Our Church Family

We are in the process of developing a new church directory with photos of everyone who regularly attends our church. Please be sure to sign up on our church bulletin board (next to the office) to have your photo

taken by Mark Krueger or Amanda Tolbert as either a family or a single during the next few weeks. We are thankful for Mark’s and

Amanda’s help and excited to be getting a new directory at minimal cost. Rather than having a professional company come in and it result in people feeling pressured, we think an inexpensive

directory (roughly a $5 donation per directory) that we print ourselves will be a far better option. (Directories without photos

will still be available for free.) Thank you!

SUNDAY MORNING FELLOWSHIP

Below is the upcoming schedule of those providing the refreshments for our Sunday morning fellowship time. If you would

like to volunteer on the open dates, please sign up next to the church office. Please also sign up if you are willing to help with

set up and clean up. We appreciate everyone’s help! July 15—Youth and Young Adult Classes July 22—ABF Led by Sharon Genovese July 29—Volunteers Needed August 5—Volunteers Needed

VBS Volunteers and Supplies Needed!

We’ve started planning for our 2012 Vacation Bible School, August 6th-10th. We are seeking

volunteers for the following roles: Snack Leader & Helper, Helper for Game Leader, Group Leaders

& Group Helpers, Nursery Workers, and Decorating Committee Members. Please check

out today’s bulletin insert to sign up.

All Out Praise!

The All Out Praise one-day festival featuring Aaron Shust and Jason Gray is returning to Champion Christian School in Donegal on Saturday, July 21st. The early bird ticket

deadline has been extended to today, July 8th. Please see Alan Witt to get tickets for $15 (they go up to $20 after today). Alan’s band, Sanctified, is playing at the festival and the more tickets they sell, the better time slot they get.

They’d be grateful for your help!

Also, we are looking for people to donate food and supplies for VBS. Please check out the bulletin board in the foyer to see what

items are needed and to sign up if you are able to help out. We would greatly appreciate your willingness to participate! If you

have any questions, please see Sarah Jones, Tammy Nichols, or Donna Galderisi.

Lost & Found Bin - Are you missing any items?

There are several objects in the lost and found bin (located in the church foyer, under the coat rack, on the left side) that have been there for

some time. There are also several coats hanging on the clothes rack directly above the bin. Please check the rack & bin today if you think any of these things may belong to you.

We plan to donate any unclaimed items to Goodwill. Thank you!
