Encroachment removed after letter in Mambalam Times

One-way traffic rule flouted in Brindavan StreetSir, I am a resident of Brindavan Street, West Mambalam.Motorists, mainly 2-wheeler riders, openly violate the one-way

traffic rule on the 100-meter stretch at its junction with DuraisamyRoad in spite of a ‘No Entry’ sign.

In spite of heavy traffic during peak hours and traffic policemenposted at the junction, many 2-wheeler riders, oblivious to the risk theypose, ride on the wrong side of the road.

It is also a common sight to see 2-wheelers being driven on pave-ments during peak hours, putting the life of pedestrians in danger.

The stretch has houses, shops and roadside vendors on both sides.I appeal to the traffic department to either strictly implement the

1-way rule or make the road 2-way. It will then also benefit the residentsof the street, who are now forced to take a detour. S. Arumugham

Appeal to install speed breakers in 4th SectorSir, I am a resident of 4th Sector in K. K. Nagar. There are two kindergarten schools and a ration shop in 14th Street,

4th Sector. There is traffic throughout the day on 14th Street. and two-wheelers

and cars are driven at high speed, endangering the lives of the schoolchildren and the elderly.

I request Chennai Corporation to install speed breakers at vantagepoints to slow down the vehicles and prevent accidents.

Similarly, speed breakers ma ybe installed in 18th Street and 20thStreet. V. Jayarajan

Sir, I thank Mambalam Times for publishing my letter last weekabout the encroachment by a shop on the service lane of South UsmanRoad, T. Nagar.

After the publication of the letter, the booth for the security stafferected on the pavement by the textile-cum-jewellery shop was re-moved.

It was blocking the way for pedestrians, forcing them to walk on thebusy road. Sooryan Basheer, Rameswaram Road, T. Nagar

Trash spills out of damaged bin in Rangan StreetSir, There is a damaged dustbin kept at the end of Rangan Street,

which is close to a small temple and a hotel on Rameswaram Road, T.Nagar.

The bin often overflows, and the garbage spills out from the sides ofthe damaged bin.

Cattle, dogs and crows rummage through the trash and spread it allover the place.

The junction stinks and poses a health hazard for passersby andnearby residents.

I appeal to Chennai Corporation to replace the damaged bin anddisinfect the surroundings. V. S. Narayanaseamy, Motilal Street, T.Nagar
