Chemical Energy is a type of potential energy where substances go through a

transformation to change to other chemical

substances.

This is how atoms move in a chemical reaction. The H2O combines with the

oxygen.

Josiah Willard Gibbs was an American mathematical physicist whose work made the basis for chemical

energy. He was born in 1839 and died in 1903. Ever since then they have been using this information to make more information. This information helps us

in everyday life.

Chemical energy is potential energy stored in chemicals. Potential energy is a type of energy an object has because of its position. Did you know that we use chemical energy

in our everyday lives? Do you use a cell phone? Have you ever turned on a flashlight? The batteries that power each device has stored chemical energy in it. Dry wood stores

chemical energy and is released when the wood burns. Heating packs, explosives, baking soda, and vinegar all have chemical energy in them. There are many more but those

were just a few. Did you know that food has chemical energy in it? The chemical energy in food is released while the food is being digested and the molecules of food are broken

down into smaller pieces.
