Alison Vard“Ciré’s aim is to create bags, purses and accessorises that are practical and robust as well as attractive. I want them to accompany you through life’s high summits as well as through everyday small moments, like faithful companions. Waxed canvas is a great fabric to work with and to use, it is strong and waterproof. With age, it takes on a patina comparable to aged leather and you can re-wax it if needs be. The waxed canvas I produce is unique and personal. I only work with small pieces of fabric at a time, carefully choosing the dyes and waxes to create one-of-a kind bags.”Cire (UK)cire.etsy.com

Edward de LacyEdward de Lacy is a designer and curator of bespoke leather bags and accessories. Each product is designed, cut, and sewn by him; most of the products are one-of-a-kind pieces or made in very small runs. Delacy Accessories (UK)delacyaccessories.etsy.com

Creazioni Di Angelina“I’m a creative person, happy wife, mom of two, I started making bags years ago and I’m so happy and grateful that making bags has become my daily work. I sell waxed canvas bags and leather bags and accessories. I like the idea that from a piece of fabric or leather something new can be made that will belong to somebody. I love my artisan work, to work with my hands is great!”Creazioni Di Angelina (IT)creazionidiangelina.etsy.com

Antonin and MargauxAntonin + Margaux is a French graphic design studio. The duo went to art school together, and enjoyed working with each other so much that they decided to form a business. Their minimalist name is a great introduction to their process and products: Graphic experimentation is an important part of their studio work, and screenprinting allows them to have fun with type, shapes, colors, and to really create things by hand. They have one motto: color, typography, and lots of fun!Antonin + Margaux (FR)antoninplusmargaux.etsy.com

The 8Ball Cyclery was founded by James just over a year ago after he became fed up with working a desk job for the past 15 years. With a long standing passion for cycling, more as a form of transport than as a competitive pursuit, originally the idea was to make beautiful, functional and affordable bicycles, making use of traditional materials such as steel, leather and wood.

Before long though the idea behind the 8Ball Cyclery grew and it became clear that the small company was more than a bicycle brand, it was a lifestyle brand. The same materials used to make the bicycles themselves could also be used to make accessories for the city and suburban cyclist. James introduced a range of accessories, primarily made from leather, that were both functional and stylish, starting with a lock holster and matching keychain. Both of which are designed specifically to keep your lock and keys

James Middleton

immediately accessible, without the need to go rooting in a bag. Soon after he introduced a belt to match and then other elements such as leather toe straps and a picnic blanket carrier.

As the idea grows, so do the offerings, and James now collaborates with other makers all over Europe to develop stylish products, from handmade aluminium bike lights in Scotland to wooden mud guards from Italy. The freedom of running your own small business is the speed and agility with which you can move. Something James never got from that desk job. Now he can dream up a new product while taking a shower in the morning and have a prototype made up and on the website by that evening.

As with the bicycles themselves, all leather goods are handmade to order, mainly by James himself, in a small workshop in Hackney Wick, London. Just like the bicycle, 8Ball is a very personally powered pursuit, which is why the mantra for the company has always been powered by humans, driven by style. Indeed, why have style over substance when you can have both?8ballbikes (UK)8ballbikes.etsy.com

Raimonda NavickaiteRaimonda Navickaite started collecting old bags, luggage, and cases while studying fashion design. Out of the blue, the idea came to her: Wouldn’t it be great to buy a quality, British-made product at the start of its life (unlike all the vintage pieces she’d been collecting)? With Holdall & Co., Raimonda aims to create well-made products that have a story; products that she can pass down to her kids. Holdall & Co (UK)holdallandco.etsy.com

Ewa Grabosz Misoui is a perfect combination of great design inspired by nature, everything that designer Ewa, loves most. Because she had always wanted to make things on her own, Ewa decided to open Misoui – with a clear idea of the products she wanted to create, and a great story behind them. Now, Misoui is an accessories brand that offers a selection of expertly crafted leather goods for men and women. Pieces are made entirely by hand or on century-old machines, reflecting Ewa’s fascination of traditional crafts. All Misoui products follow the same small-scale design process, allowing for personal attention to detail. They use only organic leathers for their products which are selected by touch, smell and overall quality. The leather is prepped with plant-based oils and extracts to help retain color and elasticity, while plant-based stains collected from all over the world provide the deeply rich colors. Each piece is made with passion and care, stemming from Ewa’s commitment to her craft.MISOUI (PL)misoui.etsy.com

After a brief career in the Law I began my professional creative life, which includes interior styling and designing, elaborate cake making and an eye for creative solutions for products in the home. Ben Treanor“I’m the illustrator and owner of Old English Co. I jumped into the world of homeware and stationary two years ago whilst I was the Senior-Designer at Waterstones’ HQ. What started as a hobbie of creating prints, Old English took off through selling products on Etsy. As a result I decided to take the plunge, follow my passion and leave my job to give Old English my full attention. The company started in a one bedroom flat in London, recently I relocated to the picturesque town of Stamford, where I now work from a fully functioning studio and with a small (but perfectly formed) team.”Old English Co.
