Points will be awarded as follows: 1st -4 points, 2nd-3 points, 3rd-2 points, each entry-1 point Alderman Frost Cup ………………… .Awarded for the highest number of points gained in the Veg & Fruit section. W.A. Pound Cup………………………. .Awarded for the highest number of points gained in the Flower section. G. Clancy Cup…………………………..Awarded for the highest number of points gained in the Cookery section. H. Hickton Cup………………………….Awarded for the highest number of points gained in the Home Craft section. Far Forest Society Rose Bowl……….Awarded for the highest number of points gained in the Floral Art section. Bob Parkin Cup…………………………Awarded for the highest number of points gained in the Photography section. B. Lawley Cup…………………………...Awarded for the highest number of points gained by a child overall + gold, silver & bronze medals for each age group. The Far Forest Society Salver………..Awarded for the highest number of points gained by a member of the Far Forest Society. The Age Concern Award………………Awarded for the highest number of points gained by a senior citizen (60 years plus) in the Cookery & Home Craft Section. W.I. Shield……………………………….Awarded to the WI gaining the highest number of points in the show. Members must write the WI to which they are affiliated on the entry form. The John Simmonds Memorial Cup…Awarded for the highest number of points gained by an adult or child in the art and crafts sections (Home Crafts, Floral Art, Photography & Children’s Arts & Crafts). H.C. Styles Cup………………………….Awarded to the overall winner of Horticulture (Fruit, Veg & Flower sections). To be chosen by the Fruit, Veg & Flower judges. Church Warden Cup……………………Awarded for ‘Best in Show’ to be chosen by the Horticultural Show Secretary and Show Manager.
Show rules and conditions
1. All entry forms to arrive by Wednesday 7th August 2013. 2. Staging of exhibits from 6pm till 9pm on Saturday 10th August 2013. No entries will be accepted after this time. 3. Entries should not be removed before 4.30pm on show day. 4. Judging will commence at 8am on show day usually taking 2 hours approx. 5. No exhibitors or public are allowed in the marquee while judging is in progress. 6. No Exhibitor will be allowed to take more than one prize in each class. 7. Prizes will be awarded by the judges, whose decision will be final and who will not know the name of the exhibitor. 8. Any complaint must be made in writing, as a formal protest to the show secretary. The letter must also include a £5 administration fee and should be
submitted on show day before 3pm. The fee will be returned if the committee should rule in favour of the protest. The committee’s word is final. 9. All exhibits must be the property of the exhibitor & be grown by them on their own ground (except for the Floral Art Section). The committee have the right
to inspect the crops at any time and will appoint an inspector. 10. The committee may retain for investigation any exhibit over which there may be a dispute. 11. All exhibits must be free from disease. 12. Vegetables may be washed but not trimmed in such a manner as to conceal their age or identity. 13. Each exhibit will be marked with the entrant’s number only. 14. The committee reserves the right to cancel any class owing to insufficient entries or to make any alteration. 15. The committee will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to any exhibit or item(s) of personal property. 16. No exhibitor may act as a steward to the judges in the class or classes they have entered. 17. The Society will only be responsible for the tables, vases will not be supplied. 18. In the Floral Art class, flowers and foliage need not be grown by the exhibitor. 19. The judges whose decision in all cases shall be final and subject to no appeal at law shall decide anything not included in the rules. 20. The committee and judges reserve the right of interpreting any imperfectly worded rule or condition. 21. The marquee will have overnight security prior to the event. 22. No commercial advertising is allowed on any exhibit.
