    History:More than three decades ago Larry Ellison saw an opportunity othercompanies missed: a description of a working prototype for a relationaldatabase. No company had committed to commercializing the technology, but

    Ellison and co-founders Bob Miner and Ed Oates realized the tremendousbusiness potential of the relational database modelbut they may not haverealized that the company they formed would change the face of businesscomputing forever.

    Throughout its history Oracle has proved it can build for the future on thefoundation of its innovations and, its intimate knowledge of customer challengesand successes analyzed by the best technical and business minds in the world.

    The company has leveraged its immense size and strength to serve itscustomers, and to implement key technology and business decisions that upendconventional wisdom and take its products and services in new directions.

    Following are the few key characteristics within ORACLE for their employees

    which make it separate from other organisations when employee satisfaction is

    taken into account:

    1. Synergy Workshop:

    Team building workshop known as Synergy is frequently organised in the

    organisation. In Synergy, the team members are taken to some resort for

    2 days holiday accompanied by few HR people who organise lots ofactivities where team members have to work together.

    Benefit: This really improves the team spirit and togetherness within a

    team.

    2. OHA and OHQ

    There are two major events organised in the organisation. OHA(Open

    House Annual) and OHQ(Open House Quarter). OHA is organised annually

    whereas OHQ is organised quarterly.

    In these events, the top executives of the company talks about the current

    and the future aspects of the company to all its employees so as to make

    them aware of all the company strategies. In these events the employees

    with high performances are being presented with the certificates and

    prizes as a symbol of appreciation.

    Benefit: This is highly motivational to the employees.

    3. Clubs(5 year, 10 year, 15 years and 20 year)

    These are the different clubs depending upon the span of an employee

    within an organisation. After joining any of these clubs employees are

    being rewarded and receives a letter of appreciation from the top

    executives.

    Benefit: These efforts motivate employees to work for the longer span of

    time in the organisation.

    4. i- appreciate and Thankyou tags

    These are various tags which employees can present to their colleagues,

    subordinates and seniors as a symbol of appreciation and gratitude.

    Benefit:This improves the interpersonal relations among the employees.

    5. HR for you

    An HR member is always present at each floor so as to interact with theemployees face to face and solve their issues and queries if any.

    Benefit: Someone is always there to help you.

    6. Talent Week:

    Talent week is organised twice each year within the organisation. Here

    employees can demonstrate any of their talents like cooking, dancing,

    singing etc.

    Benefit: Such events always keep the talent within an employee alive.

    These events have been proved to be the energy boosters.

    7. Training Calendar- each month:

    A training calendar is mailed to all employees before the start of every

    month. It consists of both the technical and the behaviour topics.

    Employees at Oracle have probably the best opportunity to regularly

    sharpen their saws and keep themselves at the cutting edge of

    knowledge.

    Benefit: Such programmes enhance the skill set of the employees.

    8. Self Appraisal policy:

    Oracle follows the self appraisal policy. Employees are required to

    appraise themselves an the basis of the tasks and the activities that they

    have performed in the years time. Later it is being reviewed by the senior

    level people.

    Benefit: Self appraisal is a very strong tool by which the employees can

    themselves identify their weaknesses and strengths.

    9. Oracle Global Security and Travel Assistance:

    All the employees are given 24 hour available security numbers foremployee assistance. These numbers are activated round the globe. So no

    matter in which part of the world employees are, Oracle is taking care of

    their employees.

    Benefit: Security assurance in the mind of the employees.

    10. Availability of Doctor:

    Thrice in a week, a highly qualified doctor is available within the

    organisation so that the employees can consult him free of cost.

    Benefit: Keeps employees medically fit and assured.

    11. No fixed working hours in a day:

    Employees can work at any time as per their project requirement and

    personal convenience. There is no fix daily hour concept. Employees are

    only required to work for 40 hours in a week. No matter how many hours a

    day they work.

    Benefit: Variable timing helps the employees to work as per their

    convenience and hence there is optimisation of effort from the employee.

    12. Reimbursement of Certified courses:

    Oracle promotes their employees to regularly go for some certified

    training programs which help them to learn new technologies. The

    expenses of such certificates are reimbursed by the organisation if the

    candidate successfully completes the program.

    Benefit: Motivates the employees to also go for the training programmes

    which are not present in the organisation.
