The Program

Identifying and Managing Customer Requirements – Clearly identifying and prioritizing customer requirements is both an art and a science. It is not only important to ensure you understand the customer's wants and needs, but also to understand the impact of any given requirement on your business. Richard Traxler will highlight aspects of the system utilized by Boston Scientific to identify and prioritize requirements on both a franchise level and on a specific product level.

Our SpeakersKevin Ward is the Director, R&D Design Systems, ICardio Division, Boston Scientific Corporation. Kevin has been involved with systems engineering for over twenty five years, covering multiple industries and markets, from aerospace and defense to retail to medical devices. Kevin currently manages the R&D Design Systems department responsible for, among other things, implementing Design for Six Sigma and other specific systems engineering tools and processes.

Richard Traxler is a manager in the Business Planning department for ICardio. He has been with BSC in R&D for fifteen years where he has focused largely on methods for identifying and managing business portfolios for each of our franchises. In 2005 Richard devised a method to identify, assess and prioritize requirements to help drive our business to "the next level". In this endeavor he has worked closely with R&D, Marketing and our Design for Six Sigma team, as well as with our customers, to ensure requirements are identified that will drive the business but at the same time are in alignment with our technologies and competencies.
