Your First Day at Work
Your first day depends on the company You might be put right into the position You may have to go through a training
period Some companies have very formal
employee orientation programs You may go through training with other new
hires
Reporting to Work
The Organizational Structure of the business shows how the workplace is laid out
This is very important to know Not all structures are the same It tells you who is in authority When you begin work you will be given a
job title – where do you fit in on the organizational chart?

Supervisor is responsible for training you Use the supervisor for communication Ask the supervisor for direction Don’t ask for or expect special treatment Accept and use the supervisor’s suggestions

Every worker must pay federal and state income tax
You pay-as-you-go (each pay period) The amount of tax that is withheld from
each paycheck depends on 3 things:1. The amount of money you earn2. Whether you are married or not3. The number of allowances (or tax exemptions)
you are entitled to claim
