While Robert Putnam painted, Dave, Larry, and Andrea cut tree limbs back, and Charlie hauled off 3 loads of debris. Kelly and Kevin tackled the parking lot flower beds, while inside, Donna, Vin, and Nancy Putnam spruced up the Sunday school rooms. Faye continued to organize, dust, and clean windows in the library. Pastor Odom came, and we gave him the job of cleaning his office and told him not to come out until he had accomplished a 5 star rating! Norma and Nancy dusted and rearranged furniture in the parlor, while Evelyn cleaned the temple room and hung new curtains. This project is ongoing twice a year in the spring and fall. We are fortunate to have such great servant leaders to lend a hand in the maintenance of our church. Praise be to God! Something New You may have noticed the resource room is under renovation. The parking lot side will be used as a shared teacher area. Our Sunday school teachers and the German ISD teachers will have a place to plan their lessons and store supplies. The other side of the room will continue to provide storage for our other church needs. We hope to get our side repainted and better organized in the near future. Thanks for your patience during this transition. Reminder! Just a reminder to put the kitchen carts back if you use them. They are used by many members to transport items from one side of the building to the other or to unload things from their cars. We ask that you not load them up and park them in a room. They are to be used as “temporary” carts and they are to be placed in the kitchen when not in service. Thanks for your cooperation! October 24, 2017 Chapel Hill UMC Staff Rev. The Country Church Choir: Gospel Concert

Our Music Minister, David Lee, is participating in a Gospel Concert on October 29th at 6pm at First United Methodist Church in Irving. This should be a night of fun and joy featuring Gospel Hymns such as, Old Country Church, Jesus Loves Me, Down at the Cross, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow, and many more songs that we all know and love. Please contact David Lee at [email protected] for more information or view the flyer on our bulletin boards!

If you are interested in carpooling to the Old Country Choir Gospel Concert that David Lee is singing in - Sunday, October 29th - please be at the church by 4:30 PM. The more the merrier - so let’s show David some support!!!!

Mission Trip Fundraiser Our Mission Team is raising money for their 2018 Summer Mission Trip. Come out before the game and enjoy a delicious meal and fellowship while helping the team raise money! The fundraiser will be at the Potbelly on Midway on Sunday, Nov. 5th from 2-5pm. Mention the fundraiser, and help send the team out to be a light for others. For more information contact Meredith Moore. See everyone there!

The Circle Maker

This Sunday we will be finishing our sermon series, Lessons from The Circle Maker. This series has pushed us to take our prayers and grow them bigger. Prayer has always been integral to our lives as Christians and our life as the Church. Together, we are called to Dream Big, Pray Hard, and Think Long about our prayers to God. During this series, we have been doing that together as the church. We started this series by learning about the Legend of the Circle Maker, Honi, and have journeyed to understand that we must have big dreams in order for God to fulfill those “impossible” prayers that each of us have. This final Sunday, we will begin to Think Long about our prayers, and how we should never give them up, even if it seems like there is no hope left. God has been and always is our hope for new life and for accomplishing our impossibly, large dreams. Let us continue to pray circles around our lives and our community as the church, even after this sermon series is finished.

5th Sunday Breakfast This Sunday is also our 5th Sunday breakfast and program! We hope that you will join us as the UMM prepare breakfast and Pastor Odom leads a program that will provide the solution to the riddle: “What starts in Amsterdam, is .8 miles long, and ends at Chapel Hill Church?” We hope to see you there with your best guess to the riddle!

Emergency Response Training

When Hurricane Harvey hit, many of you asked what we

could do. You collected money to send in support and

continued to pray about those affected by the hurricane. We

are going to be taking our next step by hosting an

Emergency Response Training here on October 28th starting

at 8:30 am. UMCOR also trains Early Response Teams,

which are then deployed by United Methodist Volunteers in

Mission (UMVIM) in times of need. These training programs

and many more enable United Methodists in the U.S. to bring

hope to those who are suffering. We will be trained to

continue helping with the rebuilding and cleanup of the Gulf

Coast. We hope that you can make it!

Information on the training can be found on the table in the

narthex.

Communion Offering: Holiday Baskets

Next Sunday’s communion offering is for the Metrocrest

Services Holiday Basket Project that will benefit our

community’s neediest senior citizens. The holiday baskets

provide welcome necessities like food and personal care

items for those struggling with financial issues, as well as

niceties that lift the spirit of those who have no family with

which to share this special time of year. Our donations will

buy items for the gift baskets and grocery or pharmacy gift

cards. All basket recipients are very thankful for our

generosity and for the delivery that relieves the loneliness

they may be experiencing. Talk to someone on the Outreach

Committee if you would like to help make deliveries.

We are still receiving donations for our MOP, The Bridge.
