    Values, attitudes

    The analysis taken on Chanduv case, regarding his values scale and attitudes, is

    described in the next paragraphs. It is necessary to understand the initial situation of

    Chanduv in the company and why his attitude has changed in a three-month lapse.

    Lets discuss his behavior, values and attitudes:

    Attitudes, motivation, and behaviors

    According to the case, it can be said that his initial attitude and behavior was good

    natured and easy going. Regarding his job, the guy is very skilled and competent,

    always had shown good performance and if necessary, he could do the extra-mile

    staying overtime at the office to complete projects.

    The valuesthat can be attached to him are:

    Ambitious, Broad-minded, Capable, Clean

    As the time has been passing and tensions at the office becomes increasing, something

    has changed in Chanduvs behavior. For example, taking into arguments with

    architects, daydreaming at the office, led to the decreasing of his productivity.

    Perception of the world

    All of those recent external influences had changed his perception of his position in the

    company, complaining about the other staff members for not recognizing his work

    properly. He claims that architects make him feel diminishedbecause he doesnt have adegree, despite his great technical knowledge.

    It has to take into account his family issues: his wife had to get a jog to help with the

    family expenses. So, he feels that he is not enough well paid and possibly thats the

    source of his discontent. Also, he perceives the fact of study at nights to get a degree as

    an almost impossible task due to his family commitments.

    Types of Values

    The types of values analysis are developed according to Rokeach:

    Terminal Values: Personal desires and achievements. The terminal values that can be

    found in Jorge Chanduv are:

    Accomplishment

    Self-respect

    Social Recognition Family security

    Instrumental Values: Behaviors as a means of the achievements. The instrumental

    values that can be found in Jorge Chanduv are:

    Ambition

    Broad-minded

    Competency-capability

    Honesty

    Imaginative

    Responsible

    Job Satisfaction

    At the beginning he had positive to neutral feelings toward his work environment. After

    the workload and tensions increased at the office, he developed negative feelings. He

    started to express his dissatisfaction in the following ways:

    Neglecting: He was caught daydreaming at his desk.

    Voice: He enters into arguments with coworkers.

    Loyalty: He HAS to keep the job due to his family commitments.

    Exit: It is not stated yet his desire to leave the job or starting searching another one.
