.

Having lived in Chalfant Borough for nearly 82 years, my cranium is cramped with so many colorful memories, that I'm not sure

which ones to write about. I’d like to go back to 1990, the year of our 75th anniversary, our Diamond Jubilee Year celebration. That's almost 25 years ago and so many of our Jubilee workers have either moved away or are no longer with us at all. To have a successful Centennial Celebration, we need new blood to pick up the slack. Who will take charge of the Miss Chalfant contest; the golf, pool, and bowling tournaments; the crowning of Baby Chalfant; the trip to a Pirate ballgame; a tour of a local brewery; our card party; our flea market; our Halloween dance; and our 100th Centennial banquet? These and many other events created a lot of memories for us in 1990. Who will step up and help us make more memories in 2015? Be a part of Chalfant History! If you are able to give a few hours of your time to ensure a great 100

th anniversary of our great little town of

Chalfant, please contact Alia Pustorino or Chad Hoover at [email protected]. WE NEED YOUR HELP! From an "old-timer" with a lot of memories, I thank you.

DOWN MEMORY LANE With former Mayor, Steve Orosz

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

As we noted in our last edition of the Newsletter, The 100 year Anniversary Committee has been reformed. Alia Pustorino-Clevenger will be chairing the committee along with Chad Hoover as co-chair.

Since we have just under two years to get organized, we are asking the residents of Chalfant to please get involved in making this celebration a success. Volunteers are needed for Fundraising, Publicity, Cookbook Committee, History of Chalfant Book and Events planning.

Give us your input! Complete an online Centennial Survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WK7Y77. Paper surveys will be available at Primary Electrons on May 21, 2013 at the Community Center and at other community events and meetings throughout the summer of 2013. Periodic phone system announcements with important information about the Centennial Celebration will be forthcoming.

For more information on how you can help make the celebration a success, please contact either Chad Hoover at 412-477-5618 or Alia Pustorino-Clevenger at 412-823-8798 or e-mail at [email protected].

CONSTRUCTION PROFESSIONALS

State Law requires every borough to have a Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Board in place to hear appeals if they arise. YOUR BOROUGH is participating in a multi-municipal board through the Turtle Creek Valley Council of Governments (TCVCOG). Are you a plumber, electrician, engineer, or in the building trade? If so, you are invited to apply to serve on this board. The board meets at the TCVCOG office which is located in the Monroeville Municipal Building, but only as needed. A $50 stipend is paid for each hearing attended. This is a great opportunity for busy professionals to serve our region. Please contact your borough office if you’re interested in serving.

YOUR DONATIONS ARE NEEDED

The Chalfant Borough Council and the Centennial Committee Members want you to be part of Chalfant history. To help make the centennial a success, we ask residents to make a donation to the Chalfant Centennial Fund. Your help will make our Borough’s 100

th Anniversary

something to remember.

Donation checks can be made payable to Chalfant Borough and mailed or dropped off to the borough office at 144 Lynnwood Avenue. All donors will be recognized in the Centennial Literature and during the celebrations as sponsors. Please print Centennial Fund on the memo line of your check.

Let the memories live on in Chalfant…..please make your donation or volunteer today.

A MESSAGE FROM

CHALFANT COUNCIL AND CHIEF OF POLICE WILLIAMS

Dogs are not allowed at the ball field or in Chalfant’s Park. Also dogs must be on a leash throughout the Boro and they must have a valid dog license. You can be fined up to $300.00 for these violations. Parking in a handicapped zone at the Park will cost you $50.00. Park elsewhere if you’re not sure it’s a handicapped space. Running stop signs is happening all too often these days. Get caught and it will cost you $112.00. The procedure to report a suspicious act, complaint, violations, crime, accident, etc. is to dial “911”. Don’t call the Forest Hills Police Department; everything goes through the “911” system.
