THE  TOP  NATIONALITIES  WHO  BOOKED  LUXURY  

CHALETS  IN  FRANCE        

   

 

 

UK   clients   made   the   greatest   proportion   of   the  bookings  with  55%  of  the  market.  The  other  European  clients   together   took   15%   of   the   market   share  closely   followed  by   the  Russians  with  12%.  USA  only  took  6%  with  Australia,   the  Middle  East  and  South  Africa  making  up  the  difference.

THE  TOP  NATIONALITIES  WHO  BOOKED  LUXURY  CHALETS  IN  

SWITZERLAND    

 

 

     

 

The   UK   clients   also   topped   the   bookings   in  Switzerland  with  54%  of  the  market  share,  with  the  Russians  and  the  other  European  countries  following   jointly   with   14%.   The   remaining  bookings   followed   a   similar   pattern   to   the  French   bookings   with   USA   taking   8%   and  Australia,   the   Middle   East   and   South   Africa  making  up  the  difference.

BOOKING  PATTERN  FOR  HOLIDAYS  TAKEN  

DURING  WINTER  2014/15        

 

The   majority   of   clients   booked   in   the   fourth  quarter   of   2014   with   the   remaining   bookings  spread  more  evenly  across  the  other  periods.

 During   this   season   the   price   of   the   booking  was   the  most  influential  factor  for  clients,  closely  followed  by  the  resort  they  required.  Transfer  time  and  whether  travel  was  included  were  the  least  influential  when  making  a  booking.

BOOKING  THE  SKI  HOLIDAY    

   

                     

The  profile  of   the  person   responsible   for  booking   the  holiday  was  predominantly  male,  with  a  small  minority  using  their  PAs  to  make  the  booking.

More  than  half  of  all  bookings  were  made  by  the  40-­60   years   old   age   group   with   the   majority   of   the  remaining   bookings  made   in   the   20-­40   age   group.  Only  10%  of   bookings  were  made  by   the  60+  age  group.

THE  AVERAGE  SIZE  OF  GROUP  BOOKING  DURING  2014/15  

             

 

                         

The  average  group  size  was  9  with  77%  of  groups  reportedly   remaining   the   same   size   as   last   year,  13%  increasing  in  size  and  10%  decreasing.

 Private   ski   guides   were   the   main   source   of  expenditure   in   resorts   followed   by   Group   Ski  School  and  Massage  in  joint  second  position  with  Childcare  as  a  close  third  optional  extra.

IMPACT  OF  THE  2014/15  SNOWFALL  ON  THIS  YEAR’S  BOOKINGS  

         

     

             

The  snowfall  during  last  winter  seems  to  have  had  a  negative   impact   on   booking   numbers,   with   58%   of  agents   and   operators   reporting   it   so.   However,  30%  reported  that   it  had  had  no  impact  on  them.

IN  FRANCE  

 Val  d’Isère  was  the  resort  of  choice  in  France  with   Courchevel   and   Méribel   almost   equally  popular  in  second  place.  Morzine  was  the  third  most  popular   resort   closely   followed   by   Chamonix.
