http://www.kznhsfa.co.za/ MINUTES OF AN EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT WESTVILLE BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL ON FRIDAY 10TH MAY 2013 AT 3.00PM PRESENT: Dr. T.L Cowie (Chairman), C. Lubbe, C. Keen, S. Bezuidenhout, W. Amos, A Dhukhi, N. Moolman APOLOGIES: P. Windsor ITEMS DISCUSSED
1) Report back from PRO, Marketing and Webpage/Facebook Officer Mrs. Nikki Moolman (see attachment) SA School Sport Magazine We will submit an article on KZN High Schools Soccer for their next edition. The Caxton newspaper group will also be contacted re an article. Businesses need to be made aware of opportunities to sponsor our Association. Steve Bezuidenhout suggested we do a twitter competition to increase our stats. (facebook site hits) Re Facebook – we have had 13 likes – this has to increase – schools must market our facebook site to their players. To advertise on facebook and twitter – we will print flyers and we will then hand them out at tournaments/festivals. We will also promote prizes on the social media. Nikki Moolman is getting the database up to date. All letters that go out must have our letterhead. Sports King is giving us quotes for the inter-‐district tournament but they need colours and sizes from Sharmin Naidoo.
2) Pre-‐Season Festivals. Entries for the U14, 15 and 16 festivals have been poor, but have been good for U19 festival. A final call for entries will go out this week.
3) Fixtures – 2nd and 3rd terms. 2nd term fixtures had started for the schools involved. 3rd term fixtures were in place for the KZN (boys and girls) fixtures plus the district fixtures. A. Dhukhi from Kloof High School requested that from 2014 a closer alignment of the boys and girls fixtures take place so as to assist co-‐ed schools with their planning.
4) Age-‐group Tournaments/KO Cup. Nothing to report. Scheduled date: Sunday 11th August 2013.

5) Trials/Representative Teams Selection Schedule Trial Dates (Boys’) 1st Round: to be organised by District Co-‐Ordinators (dates, venues, times etc.) but will be run between 22nd July and 2nd August. • District teams to be faxed/emailed to Steve Bezuidenhout on Monday 5th August 2013
2nd Round of trials will be the Inter-‐district tournaments • Sunday 18th August -‐ U19’s at Westville
U16’s at Kloof U15’s at Pinetown U14’s at Crawford La Lucia
(Mr. Steve Bezuidenhout will draw up the fixtures for the inter-‐district tournaments) 3rd Round (if required) • Wednesday 21st August (details will follow)
6) Inter District Tournaments: Sunday 18th August
The following persons had agreed to co-‐ordinate the District Trials: Districts 1) Highways (Sharmin Naidoo – WBHS) 2) PMB (Dave Karlsen – St. Charles) 3) Midlands (Chris van den Berg – Michaelhouse) 4) Zululand (Siya Dubazana – Eshowe) 5) South Coast (Damien Williams – Port Shepstone) 6) North Durban (Brian Gow – Northwood)) 7) Central Durban (Stef Crasso – DHS) 8) South Durban (Steve Howard – Glenwood) 9) Northern Natal (Sandile Msibi – Ferrum ) District Boundaries:
1) Highways (Sherwood to Kearsney) 2) PMB (City of PMB) 3) Midlands (Hilton to Balgowan/Mooi River) 4) Zululand ( North of the Tugela River) 5) South Coast (Amanzimtoti south including Kingsway) 6) North Durban (Umgeni River north to Tugela River) 7) Central Durban (Berea Road north to Umgeni River) 8) South Durban (Berea Road south to Toti) 9) Northern Natal (inland from Balgowan/Mooi River)
A letter detailing arrangements for the trials will be sent out by Steve Bezuidenhout.
7) Indoor and Beach Soccer A poor response had been received from schools. An Indoor Soccer tournament may still be held at the end of the 2nd term (details to follow).
8) Coaching and Refereeing Courses:
Coaching Courses: 1) Clive Barker – a course for PMB and Midlands schools has been organised for the last week of
the 2nd term (Dave Karlsen to finalise details – dates 21, 22, 23 June at St. Charles) 2) Clive Barker – for Durban, Highways, North and South Coast schools – dates 10, 11, 12 July at
DHS (times 08.00 – 13.00)
NB – cost of courses: R350.00 a participant (to be paid beforehand – details to follow – proof of payment to be produced on 1st day of course) NB – names/schools of coaches attending the Durban course to be sent to [email protected] by Friday 21 June at the latest. An Investec Tottenham Hotspur course will be run at DHS in the July holidays – contact Mr. Stef Crasso at DHS. A Dutch course will be held on 8 July at Moses Mabhida Stadium – contact Mr. Steve Bezuidenhout at Westville Boys’ High School for this. Refereeing /Assistant Referees Courses: -‐ details to go out this week Course 1: (for PMB/Midlands/N.Natal) – Saturday 13 July at St. Charles Course 2: (for Durban, Highways, N and S Coast) -‐ Sunday 14 July at Westville Boys’ High School. • Cost of course: R150.00 per participant (same as last year)
9) End of Season Tour to Gauteng
The impact on our tour is not certain as the Grey College tournament is apparently being held at the same time. Only the U19 teams would be affected – developments will be closely monitored. The tour will definitely still take place.
10) Sponsorship a) Illovo Sugar will be contacted re their agreement made last year to assist us with sponsorship. b) Sports King had agreed to assist us with sponsorship of kit for the inter-‐district tournament and
the KZN/Gauteng tour.
11) General Nothing was raised.
