� ³all in the Church, whether they belong to thehierarchy or are cared for by it, are called toholiness.´ 39 The hierarchy = The pope, bishops, priests, etc. Those cared for = Lay people and religious.

x Religious = in this context is a person who hasprofessed vows to a specific religious order, but isnot a member of the hierarchy.
