The 38th edition of Cevisama features the broadest ever range of products and the best architecture and design forum programme
• The fair is showcasing 847 exhibitors across eleven halls and is fully supporting
Valencia’s designation as World Design Capital 2022
• Tile manufacturing machinery joins ranges on offer from manufacturers of
ceramic, frits, glazes and ceramic colourants, bathrooms and natural stone
Cevisama, the international trade fair that brings together the latest developments from the
ceramic tile and associated industries, bathroom furnishings and natural stone, takes place
from 3rd-7th February at Feria Valencia. This 18th edition of the event again features more
products than at the previous edition and will be taking up more than 126,000 square
metres of exhibition space. 847 companies are exhibiting – both directly and indirectly,
taking up 11 halls at the venue and comprising what is poised to be one of the best editions
of the fair yet. The total number of exhibitors includes 552 Spanish and 295 foreign
brands from a total of 40 countries. Whilst the most numerous are Italian there is a
significant contingent of Portuguese and Turkish companies as well.
The Spanish ceramic tile manufacturing sector comprises the major part of the showcase
and will be revealing to the world the latest products the manufacturers have spent months
working on and that reflect their commitment to quality, innovation, technology and design.
Likewise, the ancillary sector of frits, glazes and colourants for ceramic will once again be
taking the latest industry-specific technology to Feria Valencia, as will the ceramic tile
machinery sector – another leading sector of industry that is a global benchmark and
displays its true potential at Cevisama. Added to this is the offering from the bathroom
furnishings sector, represented by famous brands that are a stronger presence at Cevisama
every year, the natural stone sector, raw materials, roof tiles and bricks, and fixing
materials and tools for installing floor and wall tiles.
Following its successful launch last year, Cevisama 2020 will again be featuring the
‘Design hall’ in Hall 6. This is a hall with a completely different style and feel, exclusive
networking and catering zones and showcases product created specifically for the contract
and project sector. A new feature this year, is the #Cevisamatrends zone, an exhibition of
tiles in the style of a product gallery, that features exclusive brands such as Inalco, Compac,
Colorker, Mármoles Serrat, Regia Domovari, Inthetile, Natucer, Cevica, Versace Ceramics,
Okiun, Inkoart, Arrelart, Irsap, Tejas Borja, Ceramiche Refin, Bathco, Harmony by Peronda,
Ascale by Tau, Nofer, Momo Collection, Hatria and Seven Tiles.
7
In addition to this comprehensive product offering, Cevisama 2020 also features a cultural
programme of exceptional quality together with new content designed to add value to the
event. This edition of the fair, for instance, is lending its full support to Valencia’s recent
designation as World Design Capital 2022 and has organised an interior design forum
titled ‘Valencia WDC Forum’ that will feature displays and presentations by leading
Valencian professionals such as Ramón Esteve, Clara del Portillo de Yonoh Estudio, and Fran
Canós, the only Spaniard hired to restore Notre-Dame.
As for the lectures on architecture, the fair’s organisers have once again entrusted
renowned architect and critic Luis Fernández-Galiano to put together an exceptional panel
of speakers that includes masters such as Danish architect Bjarke Ingels (BIG) and Pritzker
Prize winners Thom Mayne and RCR Arquitectes, amongst others.
Visitors: specifiers and distributors
The organisers expect in excess of the 90,000 visitors who came to last year’s show. The
main target audience is still product specifiers – essentially architects and interior designers
– and Spanish and international distributors of ceramic tiles and bathrooms, who are all key
to the industry.
With this in mind, Cevisama and trade association Ascer have teamed up with the
Generalitat Valenciana (Valencia Regional Government) to create the Ivace Tile of Spain
Promotion Awards. This second round of awards will recognise the top distributors in the
French marketplace. Cevisama has also organised a trade mission to ensure that the
leading American buyers of Spanish ceramic tiles attend the fair. They will be treated to a
special tribute on the third day of Cevisama.
The organisers have also rolled out numerous promotional activities over the last twelve
months to attract quality visitors and closed deals with distribution groups in the main
overseas markets as well as with colleges of architects and interior designers. Also, as part
of the Cevisama Business Club programme, the fair organisers invited leading companies
from different international markets to attend, with the result that professionals from 80
countries confirmed they will be coming. Thanks to the fair’s partnership with ICEX,
through Ascer, almost a hundred specialist journalists from around the world will be
visiting, mostly from traditional European countries, Eastern Europe, North Africa, the
United States and Canada.
Full information about the fair and the detailed programme of events for Cevisama 2020 is
available at www.cevisama.com.

Cevisama pays tribute to major American buyers at networking gala with exhibitors
• Fair supports IVACE Tile of Spain Promotion Awards, with France this year’s
guest country
Cevisama has again recognised the contribution distributors make to developing ceramic
tile and bathroom furnishings manufacturers’ businesses, the two being the showcase’s core
components. The fair operates several initiatives that hero the distributor.
Feria Valencia, which organises Cevisama, has invited the United States’ and Canada’s
leading distributors to visit the fair. These countries are a key market that has become
the second biggest destination for Spanish exports of ceramic tiles. The move has
guaranteed that the major north American buyers will be attending the fair and a gala event
being held as a tribute to them on Wednesday 5th February in the Events Centre at Feria
Valencia. The evening is intended to promote networking amongst Cevisama exhibitors and
important customers and will mix leisure with business after the doors to the commercial
showcase have closed at 19.00.
In a separate initiative, France, which is in top position in the ranking of markets that buy
Spanish ceramic tiles, is set to be the focus of the IVACE Tile of Spain Promotion Awards
this year. The awards have been introduced by Ivace at the industry’s request and are
designed to recognise work done to boost the Spanish tile industry’s image and brand
positioning in strategic markets. Now in their second year, the 2020 awards will be given to
eight leading French distributors that have been chosen by a committee comprising
representatives of Ivace, Cevisama and Ascer. The award ceremony is being held in
Valencia’s Palau de les Arts at 19.30 on Thursday 6th February.
Another event worth mentioning that also involves distributors is “Distributor Day”, which
is organised by Cevisama and takes place at the fair on Wednesday 5th February, in Hall 6,
from 12.00. The winners of the 3rd Cevisama Distribution Awards will receive their prizes
during Distributor Day.

Dane Bjarke Ingels and Pritzker prize winners Thom Mayne and RCR Arquitectes taking part in Architecture
Forum
• The new Valencia WDC Forum speakers include designers such as Ramón
Esteve, Clara del Portillo and Fran Canós, the only Spaniard commissioned
to work on the restoration of Notre Dame.
Seldom has it been possible to bring together so many great names in one programme. The
Cevisama 2020 Architecture and Design Forum features a stellar programme, with
speakers including figures who are international beacons for the profession: two Pritzker
Prize winners – American Thom Mayne and practice RCR Arquitectes – and also renowned
Danish architect Bjarke Ingels (BIG), the Barozzi/Veiga team, Antón García-Abril (Ensamble
Studio), Belinda Tato (Ecosistema Urbano), and Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT). The
programme of lectures has been curated by Luis Fernández-Galiano under the general title
‘Material Architecture 3’.
The first session is being led by Antón García-Abril (b. Madrid, 1969), founder of Ensamble
Studio and winner of the RIBA Charles Jencks Award. He holds a doctorate in Architecture
from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (EYSAM-UPM) and is a Professor at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Architecture. García-Abril will be
presenting the “C’an Terra” project, a lyrical, unique and unusual treatment of an old quarry
in Menorca.
Next up will be Benedetta Tagliabue (b. Milan, 1963) director of Tagliabue EMBT.
Tagliabue’s work includes projects such as the Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh,
the Santa Caterina market in Barcelona and the Spanish Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai
Universal Expo, which won her the RIBA Award for the best international building. At
Cevisama she will be talking about the “Kálida Santa Pau” centre in Barcelona, the first of
the admirable Maggie’s Centres for cancer patients to be built in Spain.
The job of bringing this first session to a close has gone to Bjarke Ingels (b. Copenhagen
1974), who heads up influential Danish practice BIG and will be showing the new “Noma”
restaurant building they have built for the in Copenhagen. Ingels was named innovative
architect of the year in 2011 by The Wall Street Journal and featured in Time magazine’s
2016 list of the most influential people in the world.
The second session brings the Barozzi/Veiga practice to Valencia. The many accolades it
has won include the Mies van der Rohe Prize in 2015 for the Szczecin Philharmonic Hall in
Poland. Founded by Fabrizio Barozzi (b. Rovereto, 1976) and Alberto Veiga (b. Santiago de
Compostela, 1973), the team will reveal the details of their latest major international
project, the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts Lausanne.
10
Following them, Belinda Tato (b. Madrid, 1971), joint founder with José Luis Vallejo of
Ecosistema Urbano, will be sharing her extensive “Open Shore” coastal remodelling project
near Miami with the audience at Cevisama. Tato is Associate Professor in Practice of
Landscape Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and has led projects in
Norway, Spain, Italy, the USA, Ecuador, Mexico, Bahrain and China.
The highly reputed and charismatic Thom Mayne (b. Waterbury, 1944) will be talking in
detail about the “Giant” headquarters in Shanghai that he designed. Mayne, awarded the
Pritzker Prize in 2005 and an AIA (American Institute of Architects) Gold Medal winner,
founded Morphosis in 1972 as an architecture, urbanism and design collective centred on
rigorous research and innovation. In the same year, he helped found the Southern California
Institute of Architecture and since then has taught at Columbia, Yale, Harvard, the Berlage,
the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and the UCLA Architecture and Urban Design.
Bringing the session to a close will be another Pritzker Prize winning practice. RCR
Arquitectes won the Pritzker in 2017 and are bringing their architecture to Cevisama. As
radical in its language as it is rooted in where it is built, this is architecture that is committed
to nature. The practice was founded by Rafael Aranda (b. 1961), Carme Pigem (b. 1962) and
Ramón Vilalta (b. 1960), who will be re-visiting one of their most significant pieces of work,
the “Musée Soulages” in Rodez.
Valencia World Design Capital Forum
As well as the talks on architecture, Cevisama’s Architecture and Design Forum is launching
the “Valencia World Design Capital (WDC) Forum” this year as part of its programme. The
initiative is part of the partnership agreement between Cevisama and the entities behind
the city’s candidacy for the title of World Design Capital 2022, which include Feria Valencia
itself.
The Valencia WDC Forum features a number of lectures by outstanding designers and
interior designers, as a result of a collaboration between the Comunidad Valenciana
Association of Designers (ADCV) and the Comunidad Valenciana Guild of Interior
Designers (CDICV). The speakers include professionals such as Luis Calabuig
(Odosdesign), Clara del Portillo (Yonoh Design), Ramón Esteve (Ramón Esteve Estudio)
and Fran Canós, the only Spaniard selected from the tender launched by Goarchitect for
projects to restore the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris.
The Valencia WDC lectures are being delivered on 3rd to 7th February on level 2 in hall 6 and
the closing keynote address is being given on Friday 7th at 12.00 by the heads of Valencia
World Design Capital 2022, Xavi Calvo and Marisa Gallén.

Subtitled “Identity”, Trans-hitos takes in-depth look at the use of ceramic as a material worldwide through history • Show comprises four spaces taking up 600 square metres in Feria Valencia’s
central lobby area.
Distinguishing features as what
brings a people, a society
together and the need to study
the origins and development of
ceramic and how it has been used
as a material all over the world
across the centuries, adapting
constantly to the times and the
changing needs of the
community – these are the
common threads that infuse the
2020 Trans-hitos ceramic tile exhibition. The exhibition, subtitled “Identity”, is about the
new uses and applications for ceramic as a material and will be open to view in Feria
Valencia’s central lobby area whilst the Cevisama trade fair is running.
Trans-hitos was held for the fifteenth consecutive year last year and, as a result of being
heavily promoted by Cevisama, has become a focal point for the design world. The
exhibition is supported by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Wall and Floor Tile
Manufacturers (Ascer) and designed and staged by the Institute for Ceramic Tile
Technology (ITC). As the ITC explains, “the way in which ceramic can build spaces full of
meaning and offer a series of completely novel construction ideas and solutions that are a
world away from its clichéd uses for hygiene purposes, means that every year at Cevisama
professionals from the worlds of architecture, interior design, construction, design and
others, along with the thousands of visitors who flock to this international event, are amazed
and surprised, ask questions, inquire and are inspired to create their own projects using
ceramic as a key part of creating environments that have a positive effect on coexistence
and relationships and can even stirring emotions”
Trans-hitos 2020 features four exhibition areas:
• SPACE 1: POP
-Designer: Belén Ilarri
-Construction: Grupo On Market, Sergio Cabedo, Manuel Hidalgo
-Co-ordination: Javier Mira, Jorge Corrales, Laura Vilalta (ITC)
12
POP was the concept that won this year’s competition to stage Trans-hitos. The
competition is run by CEVISAMA in partnership with ASCER and the ITC and is
designed to select a staging of Trans-hitos that showcases the possibilities of ceramic
to interior design and architecture professionals. Conceived by architect Belén Ilarri,
who graduated from the Advanced School of Architecture at the Polytechnic
University of Valencia (UPV) in 2015, POP is a space that uses simple tiles as the
starting point for creating a certain atmosphere in a room. Tiles are always laid tightly
together but could be opened up to allow anything you could think of through, so that
the space could be perceived in a totally different way. Air, sand, water, light…POP
creates a void in a 4x4x4m cube, an interior space consisting of walls, floor and ceiling,
open on the sides so that the effect can be seen. The interior space is made of a very
basic, classic and therefore contemporary, 15x15cm, apple green tiles. The tiles have
been laid in parallel lines with no grouting and pink artificial light coming through the
gaps between them. The effect of the way the tiles have been laid out is an almost
infinite, regular succession of perfect squares of light.
• SPACE 2: Ceramic Prototype: Hypar Tower
-Direction and structural design: Professor Martin Bechthold
-Project Manager: Zach Seibold
-Project Team: Saurabh Mhatre, Natalia Bechthold
-Client: Cevisama
-Sponsor: ASCER Tile of Spain
-Coordination: Javier Mira (ITC)
- Structural inspection: Windmill Engineering
-Construction: Grupo on Market, Sergio Cabedo, Manuel Hidalgo
-Testing of materials: Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc.
Developed by the researchers at the Materials Processes and Systems Group (MaP+S)
at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Hypar Tower ceramic prototype
explores the structural capabilities of slim ceramic extrusions, a product normally
used for outdoor cladding, rain and sun screens.
As this project demonstrates, structural applications emerge as new uses for ceramic,
challenging traditional perceptions of ceramic as a surface, not a structural cladding.
Post-tensioning the ceramic lends it even more structural capability, thus generating
new design opportunities, including the possibility of producing self-supporting
structures such as arches, cantilevered beams and long spans.
13
• SPACE 3: Meeting Point
-Designer: Jorge Corrales, Laura Vilalta, Javier Mira (ITC)
-Structural inspection: Windmill Engineering
-Construction: Grupo On Market, Sergio Cabedo, Manuel Hidalgo
For this 2020 edition of Trans-hitos the Institute for Ceramic Tile Technology has
designed a meeting space in the form of an outdoor pergola, that shows the different
facets of ceramic in an urban context.
The space is formed by ceramic modules suspended from a metal structure. Made of
sheets of ceramic, the modules afford protection from the sun whilst also providing
sustainable ambient light by means of a series of individual modules that capture
solar energy via photovoltaic panels
Ceramic is also a major feature of the lower part of the structure because of the way
it has been placed edgewise, which has enabled a permeable floor to be created,
comprised of stock tiles of low commercial value, developed as part of the
LIFECERSUDS (www.lifecersuds.eu) project. This same concept is reflected in the
furniture, in a series of pieces laid out in such a way that they conform an area for
relaxation or meetings within Trans-hitos, inviting visitors to be a part of the space.
• SPACE 4: 13TH CERAMIC TILE AWARDS + EXPOCÁTEDRAS 2020 + 15
YEARS OF TRANS-HITOS
-Designers: Javier Mira, Jorge Corrales, Laura Vilalta (ITC)
- Graphic design: Yinsen
-Vinyls: Publitipo
-Screens: IWWW Material audiovisual
-Construction: Grupo On Market
-Audio-visual content: ASCER, Marta Lázaro, Ana Benavente (ITC)
This space is once again presenting the winners of different categories of the ASCER
Ceramic Tile Awards: Architecture, Interior Design and Degree Project (PFC). Full
information about the Awards is available at: www.premiosceramica.com
The space is also hosting the Expocátedras 2020 exhibition. Ceramic and Architecture.
ASCER Ceramic Studies Network. The exhibition has been co-ordinated by Víctor
Echarri, who is also co-ordinator of the Alicante Ceramic Studies Department, and
14
researcher Carlos Rizo. This latest edition of the exhibition provides a novel take on
incorporating the most cutting-edge technologies into architectural ceramic and also
demonstrates the huge effort the Spanish ceramic tile manufacturing industry is
investing in developing environmentally friendly materials that can offer far-reaching
construction solutions. For more information about the Ceramic Studies Departments
go to: http://www.catedraceramica.es
Lastly, the space is marking the 15 consecutive years of Trans-hitos with a
retrospective of the projects from each of the 15 editions of the exhibition, which has
always aimed to raise awareness of new uses and functionalities of ceramic – high-
tech products boasting exceptional design suitable for architecture, interior design,
urban development and domestic settings. This review has been curated by the ITC,
with support from Cevisama and Ascer. Further information is available at

Cevisama Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Design competition jury
recognises ingenuity of young creatives
• Designs to be on display at Cevisama in hall 6, the “Design Hall”, with award ceremony
set for Friday at 13.00
The CevisamaLab Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Design Competition has yielded a fresh round of winners. CevisamaLab is Cevisama’s ideas laboratory and the most creative and innovative designs have been identified by a multi-disciplinary jury comprised of Malek Murad, of the Colegio Territorial de Arquitectos de Valencia (Valencia Regional College of Architects); Mateo Climent and Sigfrido Serra, of the Comunidad Valenciana Guild of Interior Designers; Pablo Chuliá, marketing director at manufacturer Colorker, and journalist Paco Ballester. The designs were assessed at Feria Valencia, under the guidance of co-ordinator María Fontes, with the jury selecting the winners from amongst a remarkably high number of entries of exceptional quality. In Category A of the Ceramic Design section, ‘Products shaped by semi-dry pressing’, the jury decided to award first prize – 2,000€ – to Marc Farrés Lozano, of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (International University of Catalonia, UIC), for “Hèlix”, a system of ceramic tiles to filter the light inside glass buildings. According to the jury, the concept is a “rational, functional” application “of ceramic elements, a flexible system that allows tiles to be modified or changed over time, creating different aesthetic patterns whilst also filtering sunlight in different ways.”
Second prize – 1,000€, went to Eva Salás Noguera, of the Escola d´Art Superior de Disseny de Castellón (Castellón Advanced School of Art and Design, EASD), for “A vista de pájaro” (“Bird’s eye view”). The design seeks to highlight traditional curved ceramic roof tiles, updating their decorative motifs by using digital inkjet printing technology. For the jury, “it gives a traditional product a creative, contemporary twist, adding value by using a simple resource, paint, which opens up a broad spectrum of visual possibilities.”
16
In Category B, ‘Ceramic products shaped by other methods’, it was agreed to award first prize – 2,000€ – to Guillermo Marfà Permanyer, of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Catalonia International University, UIC), for his “Greenbrick” creation, which can be a screen, a façade cladding, a load-bearing wall or a jardinière, according to the designer. The jury was impressed by “the versatility of what is a simple yet at the same time functional product that reflects a commitment to sustainability; its standout features also include the inbuilt watering system and its aesthetic possibilities.”
Second prize – worth 1,000€ – was won by Lucciana Viteri of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) and her “Estalactita” (“Stalactite”). The idea, according to the designer, starts from the perception of a façade as a single unit. And, for the jury, what is most remarkable about “Estalactita” is that it reflects “how re-inventing a traditional extruded tile creates a look that can be adapted to any kind of façade as a means of regulating the amount of sunlight the architect wants to come in.”
As to the Bathroom Design competition, the first prize of 2,000 € was won by Juan Gabriel Ortega, Sonia López, Rocío Torres, Raffaele David and María Carmen Perles, of the Escola d´Art Superior de Disseny de Alacant (Alicante Advanced School of Art and Design, EASD) for “Water Drop”. The project proposes using rainwater by installing a recycling system. The jury members noted that “It is about reinventing portable public baths, giving them a distinctly different look, and involves a commitment to sustainability by using new technologies such as those that aim to make best use of water and the facility’s own outdoor lighting.”
17
Second prize – 1,000€, was awarded to “AirOs”, by Juan Manuel Pinero, Erika Mecková and Julia Navarro, of the Universitat Politécnica de Valencia (Valencia Polytechnic University). AirOs is a bath screen that has been given a new shape and a new way of keeping the shower water in the bath. The winning feature for jury was “the use of a curtain of air directed at the bath that has made it possible to change to the traditional look of a shower screen”.
All of the entries will be on show in the “Design Hall” at Feria Valencia – hall 6 – throughout Cevisama, from 3rd to 7th February. The official award ceremony takes place on Friday 7th at 13.00 in the venue’s central lobby area, site of the Trans-hitos display.

Prestigious Alfa de Oro awards: 44 years motivating innovation in the ceramic tile industry
This year marks the 44th anniversary of the prestigious Alfa de Oro awards, which are
handed out against the backdrop of Cevisama.
The Alfa de Oro’s are the most long-standing and highly coveted prizes awarded to the
ceramic tile industry and have been linked since their inception to Feria Valencia, where
they were first received by their winners in 1977. The Spanish Ceramic and Glass Society
gives the awards to recognise innovation in the field of ceramic.
The prizes are presented every year to Cevisama exhibitors with the aim of singling out
products, processes, machinery or equipment in the ceramic and glass manufacturing
industries that display technological and/or artistic innovation that makes them a cut above
the rest. The awards also recognise functionality and practicality in kitchen and bathroom
furnishings.
The prizes also aspire to stimulate scientific, technological and artistic creativity in ceramic
products that enhances their technical or artistic properties. Innovation is one of the key
aspects considered.
The jury is comprised of experts from both academia and business who have links to the
ceramic sector and will make a detailed assessment of every product submitted by Cevisama
exhibitors. Their judgements will be announced publicly and the award ceremony will begin
at 17.30 on Monday 3rd February in the Joaquín Rodrigo room at Feria Valencia.
From that moment on, all the winning products will be identified as such on their respective
stands at Cevisama.

21st Proalso tile installers congress includes
daily demonstrations of new materials and systems
• Demos to be held in a space in the West Forum lobby area at Feria Valencia, a high
footfall area linking the fair’s different halls
The Tile Installers’ Congress organised by Proalso in collaboration with Cevisama, which is
being held this year for the 21st successive year, has become a must-attend event for all
visitors. Part of the official CevisamaLab programme, the event has retained its core
character over the years whilst offering fresh input into its programme of activities and
demonstrations of ceramic tile installation systems.
Proalso technical experts will be giving demonstrations non-stop throughout the day, from
09.00 to 19.00, in the West Forum lobby area between halls 3 and 4 at Feria Valencia.
Visitors will be able to monitor the progress of the work being done as the days go by, seeing
the most innovative installation processes for installing ceramic materials and the main
spaces the market is demanding ceramic be used in right now.
Proalso is driving for Cevisama to become the best promotional framework for the floor and
wall tile installers trade, giving it the recognition it deserves, which will impact on the whole
industry. The congress helps make Proalso more visible, highlights its main objectives and
improves the image of quality associated with the profession and of the important role the
installer play in properly deploying the latest innovations in ceramic materials and systems.

THE CERAMIC TILE INDUSTRY IN FIGURES
Spain’s ceramic tile manufacturing industry, the min sector represented at Cevisama, is one
of the most dynamic and innovative in the country and is a global leader in the fields of
technological development, design and quality. Annual turnover is 3,600 million euros, 80%
of which comes from exports to 190 countries. It is not surprising, therefore, that it
contributes the third biggest surplus to Spain’s balance of trade.
Spain is currently the EU’s biggest exporter of ceramic tiles and the second biggest in volume
terms worldwide. 94% of production is concentrated in the province of Castellón, with the
industry there providing direct employment to 15,400 workers in companies that, for the
most part, are SMEs.
Trade association Ascer (the Spanish Association of Ceramic Floor and Wall Tile
Manufacturers) will be revealing its annual figures and its vision of the outlook for 2020 at
an international press conference being held at Cevisama on Tuesday 4th February. Its
provisional forecast, based on data up until October 2019, is as follows:
Year-end forecast, 2019:
• Total sales: total turnover at the end of the year is estimated to be 3% up. • Domestic market: still growing but at a slower rate. Growth is expected to
have been around 8%, rising to 900 million euros. • Exports: 2019 saw 3% growth, to 2,700 million euros.
This rate varied from one region to another. The natural marketplace for Spanish ceramic tiles, the EU, sustained growth above 5% over the year, whilst the USA delivered growth above 10%. There was a marked decline in sales to the Middle East and the Maghreb.
• Output: Data from the Industrial Output Index indicate that the final figures for the year will be negative, with a decline in production of more than 5%.
• Employment: the trend remains positive, with a 2% increase year-on-year registered in October for the sector as a whole (with 450 new Jobs created this year so far).
