Red Sash Academic Certification •  Send a video in which you perform all white sash skills •  Pass the assessment with a grade > 60%

Red Sash Instructor Path Practicum •  Prerequisite: Red Sash Academic Certification •  Attend a minimum of 50 Class or Private Hours Within 2 Month Period •  Pass Wai’s Standard Red Sash Test with a Score > 70%

Green Sash Certification

Green Sash Academic Certification •  Send a video in which you perform all red sash skills •  Pass the assessment with a grade > 60%

Green Sash Instructor Path Practicum •  Prerequisite: Green Sash Academic Certification •  Prerequisite: Red Sash Practicum •  Attend a minimum of 75 Class or Private Hours Within 2 Month Period •  Pass Wai’s Standard Green Sash Test with a Score > 70%. This test

includes skills from previous sash levels.

Blue Sash Certification

Blue Sash Academic Certification •  Send a video in which you perform all green sash skills •  Pass the assessment with a grade > 60%

Blue Sash Instructor Path Practicum •  Prerequisite: Blue Sash Academic Certification •  Prerequisite: Green Sash Practicum •  Attend a minimum of 75 Class or Private Hours Within 2 Month Period •  Pass Wai’s Standard Blue Sash Test with a Score > 70%. This test includes

Gold Sash Certification

Gold Sash Academic Certification •  Send a video in which you perform all black sash skills •  Pass the assessment with a grade > 60%

Certified Instructor After successfully completing the Gold Sash Practicum,

you are formally recognized as a certified instructor.

Assessments & Grading Interim Assessments: We offer video assessment of your progress at any time you wish during your progress.

•  Let us know which skill or curriculum steps you wish to have evaluated •  Maximum video length is 5 minutes

Academic Grading: When you feel you are ready to be graded, just let us know

•  Send a video covering all the steps included in your current sash •  A formal certificate will be provided when you score > 60%

Assessments and gradings come with a written report of the attributes tested and scores for those attributes along with identification of the two skills requiring the most attention.

Grading & Assessment Fees: Red Sash: $30 Green Sash: $40 Blue Sash: $40 Black Sash: $50 Gold Sash: $60

Grading & Assessment Criteria You will be tested and graded on your skills in the following attributes:

Relaxed Naturalness / Confidence Intent Power Solidity Structure Effective Subtlety Relaxed Firmness Timing Fa Jing Speed Coordination Calmness Fluidity Accuracy Rhythm Position Balance Agility

Definitions of these attributes can be found in the course textbooks. Each attribute will be scored as a 1, 2 or 3 where 1 is unacceptable. A total score will be rendered as a percentage of the perfect score.

Deviations from optimal will result in a slight or serious deduction. Deviations include:

Loss of Balance or Footing Forgetfulness Hesitation / Stuttering Long Pauses Confused Movements Weapon / Wardrobe Mishaps

Practicum Practicum:

Both Regular Classes and Private Lessons count toward the practicum hours.

Regular classes and private lessons are charged at current regular school membership rates. Please check the website for the most up-to-date pricing.
