23.12.13 WE MAKE EACH MOMENT MATTER BY HELPING PEOPLE CELEBRATE LIFE Dear Colleagues, This week, I would like to share with you a wonderful example, of how Team Tamassa displayed their “savoir faire” to over 1,000 team members of the State Bank of Mauritius (SBM) and many others.. We have never in any of our properties carried out an event of this size, in fact the highest number of sit down dinner catered to date was for 450 guests only, however, Team Tamassa, proved that they could go far beyond this. They have shown that they can achieve the logistics of events of an important magnitude with their strong will, determination and excellent planning and logistic skills under the inspired leadership of their General Manager, Nitesh. With the start of the current financial year 2013-2014, Team Tamassa was aware that during the month of December, they needed numerous “Year End Events” in order to match the revenue made by the Chinese group they had the opportunity to host last year and which was also a resounding success, a first in Mauritius. The work achieved for this event and during this end of year was just amazing and I am pleased to invite you to read the words of Nitesh below. “The logistics planning and complete action plan was made along with a target to achieve. Beautiful fliers were designed and printed out for the same. Whilst Ravi started contacting all companies who have done their year-end parties with us in last few years, along with all our supplier companies too, Mike and Nishal went out to all companies at Ebene and a massive e-mail drive was set. The plan was to do a big event on every Saturday of December. Tamassa targeted Phoenix Beverages on the 7th, SBM on the 14th, Afrasia on the 21st and Bramer Bank on the 28th. Team Tamassa managed to get all of the above big events, with the exception of Afrasia, as the latter decided to do their event on the 14th of December, same day as SBM. Along with SBM, Team Tamassa also took another 100 non-resident guests for the year end party of Sun Insurance. On the day of this event, Tamassa was on 96% occupancy. There were a total of 426 guests, including a third group, POWC, with 63 rooms and 170 guests. In total, Tamassa looked after 1500+ guests with a manning of 337 team members. The success of SBM was so big, that till date, we are getting calls of praises from guests who attended this very special night. What an incredible team work. Whilst Ravi and Vinay took care of food and service, along with entire operation, Bappoo ensured the water fountain and lighting effects were perfect. Whilst Benoit ensured a warm welcome with cold towels, red roses for all ladies and escorting of all guests to venues, Nishal ensured that all quality and hygiene standards were on par. Gino ensured that all entertainment programs bring pleasure to all ears. Sophie along with her team floated the candles in the pool, when Tatiana ensured that correct manning with proper grooming was posted in all locations. When Francisco, Yanesh, Nuvin and Anwar ensured that out of over 500 cars, no car waits more than two minutes in the parking queue, along with providing valet service to few! For the first time, all 1000 guests were given a personalized “Thank you letter along with a gift”. Whilst Harish along with his team did the packaging for all 1000 gifts, Patricia got ready with a personalized thank you letter for all guests. There was a WOW factor created in any single spot, guests were completely amazed as they were getting a surprise every few minutes. The focus was to keep our basics right along with special touch-ups. Whilst guests were offered valet parking, we had trio musicians along with Mims to welcome guests, cold towels service, hostesses to escort, red roses for all ladies, welcome drink, beautiful sunset view cocktail, ice carved SBM logo with a water fountain created behind the same. Beautiful led lights focusing on trees, fire eaters, drummers, sega dancers, golden floating candles in a black pool overlooking SBM logo with orange flowers. Huge attention was given to food, ensuring that any particular cuisine was prepared by the Chef from that country, all local delicacies were prepared by our resident chefs along with Chef Subash and Chef Jean Marc, Thai food by Chef Suksan, Chinese food by Chef Peter and Chef Zhu, Indian food by Chef Karan and all this under the supervision of Chef Vinay along with Chef Walter and Chef Barry Andrews. For the first time, there was a very special and detailed Vegetarian buffet set for guests. This was highly appreciated as the vegetarian guests always used to feel neglected.

Dear Colleagues,

To make it a little more difficult, it was raining heavily on the morning and afternoon of the event. However, the back-up plan was ready and could be executed within minutes. All of the above was completely impossible without the big help from Team LUX* Le Morne and Team LUX* Belle Mare. Jean Pierre went completely out of the way to send a help of more than 30 Team Members. In fact, he took the decision to close one of his restaurants, in order to help Tamassa. A big thank you to Jean Pierre, Rocco, Percy, Adarsh and Chef Thomas. Special thank you to Ashish, Pascal and Girish for their help from LUX* Belle Mare too. From the beginning till the end, the whole team ensured that the event was a fun, stress free and memorable one. In order to ensure that our in-house guests do not feel left behind, a gala dinner along with live music was organized at our Show restaurant. This approach delighted all other guests in the resort too. They were very happy with this gesture, as they felt that the management cared for them too. A massive well done to each and every team member of Tamassa involved in the realization of such an event. Thank you for the tremendous effort put in, thank you for helping SBM Team Celebrate life. With this very special event, Tamassa took a complete new approach as how events or banqueting is done. Tamassa has lifted the standards for “Year End Parties” in Mauritius. The success of SBM party was so high, that from the word of mouth, Bramer Bank, who had already booked their “Year End Party” with Long Beach on the 28th of December, cancelled at Long Beach and booked with Tamassa. Another event for 400 guests! Such is the power of word of mouth.

PADCO, one of the biggest construction company, who is also constructing the new restaurant at Tamassa and the neighboring resort Outrigger, was onsite during this event. They were so impressed with the set-up and guests feedback, that they have promised their next year function at Tamassa and have booked over ten rooms at Tamassa during the festive season. Since the day of the event, so many attendees have called to say “Thank you” for creating such a special night with so many WOW moments. In fact, four guests have even expressed their view on Trip Advisor. Although, this was the first time, any LUX* Resorts did an event of this size, the strong planning and organization made it look so easy. Team Tamassa went very aggressive for business. The financial targets are very clear in their mind and Jean Pierre’s promise during the Strategy Meeting that Tamassa will contribute towards Project 1 Billion, gave the strength to go for this event.” When reading the words of Nitesh, I am sure that we all feel speechless, the rebirth of Tamassa is really something I have never witnessed in my professional career, and I know we feel very proud of having them in our family. Thank you Team Tamassa !! Well done !! Dear Colleagues, thank you all again for taking care of our guests in this festive season which is, as we all know, the pinnacleof the year and when we have to perform to the best of our games to achieve Making Each Moment Matter By Helping ALL Our Guests Celebrate Life. I wish to all of you and to your families a Merry Christmas and I know the majority of us will be away from our dear ones, taking care of our Guests.

Sincerely Always,

Paul Jones P.S: I am pleased to invite you to read some of the comments posted on Trip Advisor in connection with the event.
