autoMotiVe engineering lecturerClaire achieved her Level 1 and 2 in Motor Vehicle before entering the British Army forfour years. During this period Claire enjoyed Automotive Engineering work on HeavyGoods Vehicles before leaving the Army to complete her Level 3 Apprenticeship withAspull Motors. Claire has lectured at Wigan & Leigh College for the last three years,where she has also achieved her Certificate in Education.

Jason hargreaVes Mechanical engineering lecturerAfter leaving school, Jason joined the Royal Air Force as a Personal TrainingInstructor but soon realised that there would be more career prospects inEngineering. Jason soon secured an apprenticeship with Network Rail, where hespent six years before moving into a maintenance engineering role for a furtherthree years. Jason joined Wigan & Leigh College in 2012 to complete his HNC inMechanical Engineering before securing a lecturing position.

Martin gilMore ciVil engineering lecturerMartin has over 14 years’ experience working for Balfour Beatty as a Senior SiteEngineer and Site Manager. During this time, Martin worked on a variety ofconstructions including hospitals, substations and Universities. Having worked atWigan & Leigh College since 1999, Martin has enjoyed three visits to China where hehas delivered vocational training as well as working on projects for Wigan Leisure &Culture Trust and Leigh Harriers.

Dr DereK green electrical & electronic engineering lecturerDerek, who is a fellow member of the Institute of Engineering Technology, hasover 25 years’ experience working in the industry. He has a first class honoursdegree in Electronic Engineering and he also conducted a Masters in Control &Instrumentation and a PhD in Robotics & Micro Electronics at Liverpool JohnMoores University. Dr Green, who has enjoyed consultancy work for BritishGas and Atomic Energy, has also worked in America, Bahrain, China, India andMalaysia.
