Program Concept Note

The International Summer Program of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) is an intensive practical virtual training program for international students from partner universities who are interested in the fields of natural sciences such as agriculture, fisheries, veterinary medicine, and other allied fields. This short-term training program is the pilot international offering of CLSU in cooperation with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA). CLSU, as a member of the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC), designed and will offer this short-term training program to prepare the youth and the next generation of professionals with relevant knowledge and skills in their fields. This activity is responsive to the UC’s objective of providing highly trained personnel in agriculture, environment, and natural resources for the development of the Southeast Asian region and promoting mutual beneficial cooperation among UC members by optimizing the utilization of scarce resources and expertise; and developing strong and dynamic linkages among UC members through collaborative research projects as well as faculty and student exchange. SEARCA serves as Secretariat to the UC. Due to pandemic restrictions, the training program will be conducted online and will also integrate lectures on Filipino culture, traditions, music, and cuisine besides the track lectures. In addition, a university virtual tour is included to introduce CLSU to the attendees. The advantage of registering for this international training program includes emphasis on the mastery of concepts and skills relevant to the student's field of interest through the diverse training tracks. It will also equip students with technical knowledge in the research field. Expected Output(s) from Students:

- The major output of the program is a collaborative research project concept note from at least two partner countries.

- Students are expected to participate at the end of each lecture by conceptualizing research and/or project ideas. They will be tasked to design and develop a

research/project outline which they will be presenting at the end of the program for critiquing. The major output is transforming innovative ideas into action plans. With this, the students could expand their international network through their action plans and promote collaboration among themselves through their proposed research and/or project.
