  • edTPA Video Requirements

    • The length and number of clips need for edTPA vary depending on grade level and area of concentration – Students are responsible for knowing how many

    clips they need and what the length requirements are

    • Clips may be no larger than 300MB

    • Accepted file types include: .flv, .asf, .qt, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, .mp4, and .m4v

  • Recommended Programs for Video Clipping

    • AnyVideoConverter, a free software program, can be downloaded and used to convert files, clip files and compress files; this program can be used on Macs and PCs

    • For Apple users, iMovie is available in the App Store for under $5.00, if it is not already installed on the users’ devices

    • For Windows users, Windows Live Movie Maker is recommended for clipping. If it is not already installed on the users’ devices, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft’s website.

  • Video Editing Tips

    • Always clip videos before compressing them

    – Often, video clips do not need to be compressed once they have been clipped because they are less than 300MB

    • To see how large a video file is, right click on the file in its saved location and select Properties

    – Files should be no larger than 300MB or 3000KB

  • Clipping and Converting Files in AnyVideoConverter

    • Open the program and either click the Add Videos button and browse to locate the video file to be clipped or drag and drop the video file into the program

    • Once a video has been added to the program, click the scissor tool to begin clipping the video

    • A new window will open; click the New Segment button to set the start and end points for the clip

    • Then drag the Start and End markers to the points where the clip should begin and end

    • Click Apply

    • On the program’s main screen, both the original video and new clip will be shown

    • Uncheck the box next to the original clip

    • From the drop-down menu in the upper right, select one of the acceptable file formats (most can be found under the Common Video Formats in the drop-down)

    • Set the Video Size under Basic Settings to 320x240

    • From the Quality drop-down menu, select either Normal or Lower

    • Click Video Options to expand that window and set the Bitrate to 256

    Click the Convert Now! button to begin the conversion process

    • The file will convert and be saved to a default location on the computer, which will automatically open when complete

    • Save the file to a personal storage device such as a flashdrive, or use cloud storage, such as Dropbox, so that it can be uploaded to edTPA

    • Open the program

    • Click where it says Add videos and photos or simply click where it says Click here to browse for videos and photos; then, locate the video file to begin editing it

    • Once you have added a video to Movie Maker, the Edit tab will appear on the ribbon

    • Click the Edit tab and then select the Trim Tool

  • Clipping Videos in Windows Live Movie Maker

    • Students will need to know at what point in their videos they want their clips to start and where they would like them to end in seconds

    • For example, if a student wanted his/her clip to begin at 10 minutes and 20 seconds, and end at 20 minutes and 18 seconds, he/she really wants her clip to begin at 620 seconds and end at 1218 seconds

    • Enter the Start Point and in End Point in the number of seconds; then, click Save Trim

  • Saving A Movie in Windows Live Movie Maker

    • After the video has been clipped, click the File drop down menu

    • Click Save Movie • Select For email • Name the file and choose

    where the video should be saved

    • Typically, most clips less than ten minutes long will not need to be compressed after clipping if the clip is saved this way
