Daves pick of the month is the Grand Cru International California

customer that wants a refreshing, slightly off-dry mid-priced wine that
they can enjoy with their friends and family during the warm spring and
summer months.
Says Dave, I like the taste of fresh berries and how it is off-dry yet still
crisp! I can enjoy this wine while relaxing by the pool on a sunny day or
at a bonfire in the evening
This easy drinking blush wine offers fresh floral notes on the nose and palate. It is medium bod-
ied with an attractive display of citrus flavours and a soft, off dry finish.

Italy Piazza
Found in the heart of every town in Italy, a piazza is where locals and tourists alike gather
to enjoy a glass of wine and unwind after the stress of the day. It is similar to the town
square North Americans are more familiar with. Italian culture is embodied by social gath-
erings and their love for food and wine. A perfect accompaniment to any occasion, our
Piazza wine will have you reminiscing of a private table on a piazza in the centre of a pic-
turesque Italian town.
Enjoy this full-bodied white wine, which receives its luscious mouthfeel from fermentation
on raisins in a white amarone-style experience. Note tropical fruit, peach and a touch of minerality on the nose, following through to a
palate with a hint of raisins and elderflower.
Oak: 0 - Body: 4 - Sweetness: 1
Additional Info
Pair your Piazza wine with grilled seafood salad, roasted chicken, or an assortment of hors doeuvres.

Recipe of the MonthInstructions:
Heat a stove-top grill pan or griddle with cooking spray over medium-
high heat to preheat. Place peppercorns in a plastic bag and smash
with the flat side of a meat mallet, or bottom of a heavy skillet, until
finely crushed. Season both sides of flank steak with crushed pepper-
corns, salt and garlic flakes. Place steak on hot pan and cook 5 min-utes per side for medium doneness. Remove from heat and let steak rest 10 minutes. Slice meat
crosswise into 1/4 inch thick slices. While the steak is cooking, place diced bacon in a large skillet
over medium heat until browned and crisp. Add vinegar and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes or
until liquid reduces. IN a small bowl, add broth and cornstarch, whisking until cornstarch is com-
pletely dissolved and add to skillet. Simmer 2 minutes bringing to a full boil, until sauce thickens.
Remove from heat spoon sauce over steak slices and top with parsley.

Spotlight on Malbecwine-growing regions.
The climate where the Malbec grapes are
grown impacts the flavours you may experi-
ence with the wine. For example, Argentin-
ean Malbec wines tend to be softer and less
tannic than their French counterparts. Over-
all, Malbec is often described as having a
deep colour and plum-like flavor. In particu-
lar, French Malbec wines tend to be rich,
dark, tannic and juicy.
While Malbecs heritage can be found in the
Bordeaux region, it is now commonly asso-
ciated with South America. But Malbec
grapes are also grown in the Australian ClareValley, New Zealand, South Africa, Texas,
and even Idaho!
With the longer warmer days of May
upon , late spring is the perfect time to
enjoy this South American delight. The
mighty Malbec grape is a purple French
wine grape variety that originates from
Frances Bordeaux region but is now
commonly associated with Argentina and
Chile.
Malbec is one of six grape varieties per-
mitted in Bordeaux blends; however, the
Malbec lost considerable favour in the
Bordeaux region after the 1956 frost that
killed off 75% of the crop.
The Malbec grape is thin-skinned andneeds more sun and heat than Cabernet
Sauvignon or Merlot grapes making it an
Ideal grape variety for South American
