Lectura la Segunda Carta a los CorintiosHermanos: El amor de Cristo nos apremia, al pensar que si uno murió por todos, todos murieron. Cristo murió por todos para que los que viven ya no vivan para sí mismos, sino para aquel que murió y resucitó por ellos.

Por eso nosotros ya no juzgamos a nadie con criterios humanos. Si alguna vez hemos juzgado a Cristo con tales criterios, ahora ya no lo hacemos. El que vive según Cristo es una creatura nueva; para él todo lo viejo ha pasado; ya todo es nuevo.

Todo esto proviene de Dios, que nos reconcilió consigo por medio de Cristo y que nos confirió el ministerio de la reconciliación. Porque, efectivamente, en Cristo, Dios reconcilió al mundo consigo y renunció a tomar en cuenta los pecados de los hombres, y a nosotros nos confió el mensaje de la reconciliación. Por eso, nosotros somos embajadores de Cristo, y por nuestro medio, es Dios mismo el que los exhorta a ustedes. En nombre de Cristo les pedimos que se reconcilien con Dios.

Al que nunca cometió pecado, Dios lo hizo “pecado” por nosotros, para que, unidos a él, recibamos la salvación de Dios y nos volvamos justos y santos.

Cuando el niño cumplió doce años, fueron a la fiesta, según la costumbre. Pasados aquellos días, se volvieron; pero el niño Jesús se quedó en Jerusalén, sin que sus padres lo supieran. Creyendo que iba en la caravana, hicieron un día de camino; entonces lo buscaron, y al no encontrarlo, regresaron a Jerusalén en su busca.

Al tercer día lo encontraron en el templo, sentado en medio de los doctores, escuchándolos y haciéndoles preguntas. Todos los que lo oían se admiraban de su inteligencia y de sus respuestas. The RITE OF ORDINATIONPlease be seated

Call and PresentationThe candidates are called by the Church to serve God’s people in the Order of Priests.

Election and ConsentAfter the candidates have been presented by the Director of Vocations, the Archbishop chooses them for ordination and the people of God respond with applause.

Instruction and HomilyThe Archbishop speaks to all those present about the office and duties of priests.

Promise of The ElectThe candidates promise fidelity to the Church, and to the duties of the priestly office.

Promise of ObedienceThe candidates promise respect and obedience to the Archbishop of Atlanta and his successors.

Invitation to PrayerThe Archbishop calls on those present to pray for the candidates who will prostrate themselvesin an act of humble prayer. The assembly kneels.

Litany of Saints Chant

Anointing of HandsThe Archbishop anoints the hands of each newly ordained priest with Chrism to signify the priest’s ministry in the Church to heal, sanctify and offer prayer for God’s people.

Presentation of the GiftsFriends and family members of the newly ordained bring forth the gifts to be offered and shared in the Liturgy of the Eucharist. These gifts of bread and wine are then presented by the Archbishop to the newly ordained priests as a sign of their office.

Presbyteral Greeting of PeaceThe Archbishop and other priests extend a sign of welcome and peace to the newly ordained.

Imposition of HandsIn silence, the Archbishop lays hands on each candidate. This essential action comes to the Church from our Scripture tradition and signifies the conferral of God’s Holy Spirit, through whose power the Church ordains those who are to serve in the Order of Priests. All the priests then lay hands upon each candidate.

Consecratory PrayerWith this prayer, the Archbishop confers the priestly dignity on the candidates.

Investiture with Stole and ChasubleFor the first time, each newly ordained priest is vested with the signs of his office.

May I live in the world as one who always seeks to serve.May I live as one who knows the love of God.Lord, teach me how to live and how to serve.

With my ears may I hear, with my eyes may I see.With my lips may I speak.  May your word be heard through me.Thus as I live each day may love sustain the will to serve. Amen.

Guidelines for Receiving Holy CommunionWe welcome to this celebration of the Eucharist those Christians who are not fully united with us. It is a consequence of the sad divisions in Christianity that we cannot extend to them a general invitation to receive Communion. Catholics believe that the Eucharist is an action of the celebrating community signifying a oneness in faith, life and worship of the community in full union with our Holy Father, Pope Francis and the College of Bishops. Reception of the Eucharist by Christians not fully united with us would imply a oneness which does not yet exist, and for which we must all pray.
