ONE WINDOWby Sheila Kelsey
I have but one little windowthat faces to the east.A small slice of trees and skywith which to round myuniverse and you havethe wide world to wonder.
Oh be my eyesthat I may see the mountainsin the western sunriseand the wide sleeping riverunder its blanket of mist.
Show me the mysteries of the early opening flowersand the finches returningagain to the apple treeand I shall have spring.
Tell me of the big buck wadingin the waist high grass,of the inland sea, and of the gray fox running patternsto distract you from her kitshidden in the burgeoning brushand I shall have summer.Oh be my eyes and I willshare my world with you.
Hannaford, Sabattus St.
I will enumerate each golden leaf and cloudin my poor vision, tell you how the breaking light of dawnfeels on my faceon the first day of summer, long after I cease to speak.
I will translate every birdsong, and make a living being of the rolling thunder.
From the moon and my few starsI will make for you a cosmo,so that its light will lastlong after the dawn has fadedfrom my little window.

I AM GRATEFULFor all the gifts that I’ve been given, I am grateful
For all the lessons I have learned, I am grateful
For the rising of another day, I am grateful
And for the life that I’ve been given, I am grateful
Let the life I’ve lived speak for me
Let the life I’ve lived speak for me
When I come to the end of this road, and I lay
down my heavy load,
Let the life I’ve lived speak for me
Let the friends I’ve made speak for me….
Let the work I’ve done speak for me….
Let the love I’ve shared speak for me…..

SONGSAndroscoggin Harmony is a group of singers whose primary mission is to sing at the bedside of hospice patients. They sing a variety of songs, from those that give comfort, to oldies or hymns, whatever is most appropriate for the patient. They also sing for Androscoggin memorial services and special events. The singers are dedicated to bringing the solace and joy that music can provide for those in their final journey and for their loved ones.

THE BUTTERFLYby Heidi Buker
As I was once rushing byI came upon a butterfly. And as he hopped so lazilyfrom branch to branch and tree to treeI asked him how he could spend his daysin such a carefree, lazy way.And he with smiling, laughing faceput me in my proper place.
By asking how I could hurry byand not see such a clear blue skyor the perfectly colored daffodilsor the majestic green rolling hills.
And as I turned and walked awayI wonder still about that day.Who was right and who was wrong? The butterfly that hears God’s song?Or we who travel through this lifeonly seeing pain and strife?
