The primary goal of the CEC is to provide a forum where you can review all aspects of your systems and identify what improvements you can make. Key LabWare management staff and LabWare certified consultants will be on hand all week to make sure you achieve your objectives. The CEC also provides a venue for strategic reviews with peers from other parts of your own corporation and complementary organizations.

Training - Our training team will provide updates on the new LabWare 7 training program, which was improved in order to better target the needs of our user base.

Training Courses

There will be two types of sessions available during the 2017 North American CEC Breakout Sessions; Industry Technical Sessions and Training Classes. The Industry Technical Sessions will be topic specific discussions of current business needs based on industry. Training classes will be presented in classroom style format; classes with exercises are denoted with “Laptop Recommended”.

Training manuals covering the course material will be available at the start of each class. Many of the training classes will include exercises to allow for hands on experience of the topics presented during the course. Laptop requirements will be reflected below in the Course Abstract as well as in the CEC agenda. Training attendance forms will be passed throughout the room just before the end of the training session.

A Training System Installation Workshop will be held on Monday, May 8 between 5:15 pm and 6:00 pm. Additional information will be provided Monday morning of the CEC.

• Basic level training is for those who want a basic introduction to LabWare functionality. These classes may cover a topic that is not dependent on LabWare and can be applied across any system. No LabWare experience is necessary.

• Beginner level training is for new users with a basic understanding of LabWare who want to gain additional configuration and functional knowledge. Some LabWare knowledge, i.e., actively working in the system for a few months, is helpful.

• Intermediate level training is for users of LabWare with at least a year of practical experience who want to learn about LabWare enhancements and additional functionality. These courses introduce module functionality as well as system maintenance and other topics that are not covered in typical training classes. It is useful to have completed Admin 1 training before taking this class.

• Advanced level training is for proficient users of LabWare with extended practical experience. These classes are typically faster paced and include functionality that may be more complex either in setup or theory than most LabWare functionality, i.e. Rules Engine and Capacity Manager.

• Expert level training is for those who have strong understanding of LabWare, and experience working and maintaining the system. The classes are high level and fast paced, demonstrating advanced features and configuration.

Training Courses The training classes listed below are based on a provisional agenda for the 2017 NA CEC. The final CEC agenda reflecting the actual training classes will be published closer to the CEC start date.

The CEC Break-Out sessions will include training classes and Industry Technical Sessions. Training classes will be presented in a classroom style environment. Training manuals covering the course material will be handed out at the start of each class. Some of the classes may include class exercises that will allow attendees to receive guided, hands-on experience in the use or configuration of LabWare functionality during the class. Industry Technical Sessions will be presented in a less formal manner. The intention of these sessions is to have an open discussion of questions and trends observed in respective industries. No manuals or handouts will be distributed during Industry Technical Sessions.

This course will introduce the concept of an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN). End User exercises will allow you to get a feel for the ELN interface. The last half of the class will allow students to configure templates and test their configuration.

This course is aimed at LabWare Administrators. The class will look at various tools available from LabWare via www.LabWare.com and within the LabWare product.

This course is aimed at End Users and System Administrators who may be using earlier versions of LabWare that are interested in learning the new functionality in LabWare 7.

This course gives an overview of the database and how SQL is used within LabWare. This course covers where in LabWare SQL can be called and basic syntax of SQL.

This course is aimed at attendees who have no previous programming experience. Some of the topics covered are variables, code testing, loops, and conditional statements. The course also provides an introduction to elementary LIMS Basic functions.

This course gives new users a brief introduction to LabWare. The class starts with End User functionality. The class then moves into the configuration of important static tables such as Products and Sample Login Templates.

Visual Workflow Basics Level: Beginner Duration: 3.0 hours

This course provides an overview of how to configure dynamic visual workflows in LabWare. Class exercises will guide students through the configuration of dynamic visual workflows.

Batch Manager Level: Intermediate Duration: 2.0 hours

The LabWare Batch Manager handles collections of samples or tests that typically simulate an auto sampler load list, sample set or a laboratory worksheet. This course provides an overview of Batch Manager concepts and the functionality that may be used by end users in performing their daily activities in the lab. The course will also cover the template driven configura-tion required to allow batches to be created. Batch Id configuration, Batch Links, and Batch Standard Protocols are a few of the templates covered during the course.

Crystal Reports IntroductionLevel: Beginner Duration: 3.0 hours

This course will introduce students to the Crystal Reports application and the configuration of a simple report template. Students will learn how to run a report from LabWare using an access routine and query tag. The course will also highlight groups, Crystal formulas, sum-mary fields and running totals.

Note: To participate in class exercises, attendees will need to have Crystal Reports Developer version XI or

higher installed on their laptops.

Error Resolution Level: Intermediate Duration: 3.0 hours

The course is focused on techniques that can be followed by the LabWare Administrator to resolve LabWare problems or errors encountered at the customer site. Resources that are available for use in resolving issues are discussed. The course includes debugging exercises.

Archiving in LabWareLevel: Intermediate Duration: 2.0 hours

This course looks at the archiving modules available from LabWare.

Advanced Visual Workflows Level: Intermediate Duration: 3.0 hours

This course introduces advanced Visual Workflow

concepts including using CSS files.

Object Group Manager

Level: Beginner Duration: 1.5 hours

Attendees will learn how to utilize Object Group Manager. Its benefits and capabilities will discussed with exercises available to get a feel for the functionality.

This course introduces debugging tools available in LabWare 7. The course will look at the Debugging As-sistant and Code Reporting as well as other functionality introduced in LabWare 7 and the Debugging module.

This course is designed to give Administrators a more advanced look at the configuration and tools available in LabWare 7.

Mapping in ELN Level: Intermediate Duration: 3.0 hours

This course is aimed at LabWare ELN Administrators who will be involved in the configuration of mapping in Workbook Templates. Hands-on exercises will guide students through the configuration of cell maps and instrument maps.

Upgrade from LIMS V6 to LabWare 7 Level: Intermediate Duration: 2.0 hours

The aim of this course is to provide students with an overview of the planning and steps involved in the V6 to LabWare 7 upgrade of a LabWare system. The instructor will guide students through a class exercise that simu-lates the upgrade of a V6 database.

Note: Attendees will need administrator access to their laptops to perform the exercise.

LabStationLevel: Advanced Duration: 3.0 hours

This course is designed to give attendees an overview of LabStation and result integration into LabWare LIMS/ELN. The course highlights how to collect data from instruments and creating parsing scripts. The course also provides detail on how the various parts of LabStation work together.

Stability ManagerLevel: Advanced Duration: 3.0 hours

This course gives attendees a brief overview of Lab-Ware’s Stability Module. Configuration of static objects like test articles and protocol templates used to create stability studies will be discussed.

SQC Charting & Trending Level: Advanced Duration: 3.0 hours

This course explores the Northwest Analytical (NWA) Quality Analyst functionality. The course highlights how to configure chart templates and chart outputs, as well as the various types of charts available.

Rules Engine Level: Advanced Duration: 3.0 hours

This course provides an overview of Rules Engine con-cepts and the template driven configuration of rules and actions in place of complex LIMS Basic Scripting to introduce logic processing. The course takes you through multiple rule set configuration options to give you a feel of its flexibility.

Web Deployment LabWare 7 Level: Advanced Duration: 2.0 hours

This course provides attendees with a basic understand-ing of LabWare web architecture. The course guides attendees through the installation steps, as well as the configuration of the Admin Console. The course also goes into an overview of Web Services Publishing and Cluster Manager functionality.

Note: To perform exercises, attendees will need admin-istrative access on their laptops as well as the capability to connect to the internet.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be made via e-mail to Alice Campbell at [email protected]. Prior to Monday, April 17, 2017 attendees can cancel without penalty. After Monday, April 17, 2017 attendees will be responsible for the full registration fee.

CEC Attendance for your Primary Support Contact (PSC) may be a component of your annual Maintenance & Support agreement (please check your latest invoice for your status). We understand there may sometimes be extenuating circumstances that prevent the PSC from attending. Therefore, it is LabWare’s policy that the PSC spot at the CEC, if necessary, can be transferred to another employee of your choosing. LabWare highly recommends you send your Secondary Support Contact, should your PSC not be able to attend. Please Note: It is NOT necessary to change/update your PSC contact information solely for the purpose of attending the CEC.

For all other registrants, the Early Bird registration fee is $1,850 per attendee. Register by Tuesday, March 28, 2017 to take advantage of this fee.

A LabWare GUEST must be a member of your immediate family (spouse/significant other and children). Our attendees often choose to invite their families to join them for the week to take advantage of the opportunity to visit a new city and enjoy some R&R while they are attending the Conference.

Although LabWare does not coordinate meals, events or activities for your guests, they are welcome to attend the Welcome Reception and the two LabWare-sponsored dinner events at no extra cost, as long as they are registered and have been issued and are wearing their LabWare Name Badge. Guests are on their own for all meals; breakfast and lunch each day is strictly limited to Conference Attendees.

Rosen Shingle Creek is nestled on a 230-acre site along Shingle Creek just off Universal Boulevard, east of the Orange County Convention Center North/South expansion, and is conveniently located just 10 minutes from the Orlando International Airport (MCO). This ideal location is just a short distance to a variety of Orlando’s best attractions, restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues. For attendees thinking of extending their stay at Rosen Shingle Creek, pre or post CEC, Orlando offers an abundance of attractions with something for everyone.

Weather: Springtime in Orlando sees average temperatures ranging anywhere from 75°- 85°during the day, and cooler temperatures of 55°- 65° in the evenings.

Room Reservations: The LabWare group rate for this year’s meeting is $189/night for single/double occupancy. The hotel does not charge a Resort Fee.

The deadline for making your hotel reservation is Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Requests received after this date will be accepted on a space-available basis. After the reservation deadline of March 28, 2017, the LabWare group rate of $189 is not guaranteed. Upon request, Rosen Shingle Creek will extend this rate three days pre and post arrival, based on availability.

Transportation: Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to/from the airport/hotel. There is no courtesy shuttle from the airport to Rosen Shingle Creek. Airport ground transportation is HIGHLY recommend-ed. If you do choose to drive, Rosen Shingle Creek offers both valet ($26/per day) and self-parking ($18/per day) options.
