Overview & ObjectivesThis course will lead to a CISCO Certification

(CCNA). This is the CISCO: Fundamental ofInternetworking and WAN Configuration butwith more in-depth information for those ofyou who are looking for a deeper knowledgebase or an additional certification. The CCNA

certification (Cisco Certified NetworkAssociate) indicates a foundation in andapprentice knowledge of networking. CCNA

certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access

services for small networks (100 nodes orfewer), including but not limited to use ofthese protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, FrameRelay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, AccessLists.

    Prerequisites

Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol SuiteIPX/SPX protocols Suite, MCSE or CNE orexperienced in supporting a LAN environment.

Target GroupSystem administrators, network engineers, software engineers, system analysts, students, or power-users / PC users who maywish to learn about using the Cisco Router

    Configuration.

Over the last two years, the IT industry haschanged dramatically. The Cisco certification

landscape has also undergone huge changes. This article talks about the career

certifications available from Cisco and will helpyou decide which is right for you.

Originally the only certification that Cisco

offered was the CCIE (Cisco CertifiedInternetwork Expert). Since the Ciscocertification program's inception, the numberof available certifications has grown to 26.This includes 2 certifications at the associatelevel, 4 at the professional level, 3 expertlevel certifications, and 17 specialist

    certifications.

Alternately, the certifications can be brokendown into certification paths: Communications

and Services, Network Design, NetworkInstallation, and Network Security. Arguably,

the specializations could be considered aseparate certification path, but they are more

of an indication of specialization (for lack of abetter word) with a certain facet of Cisconetworking. The Network Design path is theonly one that does not have a correspondingexpert-level certification available.
