32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time The first reading today is the moving story of Jewish martyrs willing to die for their faith rather than break the dietary laws of their faith. What are we willing to sacrifice for others? The prin-ciples of Catholic Social Teaching cover everything from hu-man life to the environment. They teach us about care for the poor and vulnerable, the importance of family; the importance of solidarity. Are we willing to give of ourselves, to understand these principles until they shape our lives and are as important to us as the law of Moses was to those in the first reading?

[email protected] Silent Advent Retreat, December 2-4 You have heard the saying, “Jesus is the Reason for the Sea-son”. He truly is; that is why we have set aside a weekend for you to come and spend some time in the quiet preparing your hearts for the birth of our Lord. Spiritual Direction will be avail-able as well as Reconciliation and Adoration. The retreat will be led by the Cedarbrake staff. Meals and linens are provided. Contact Cedarbrake to register or for more information. Advent Dinner, December 6 Join us for an evening of wine and cheese and a delicious dinner followed by a reflection on Advent by Missionary of the Sacred Heart Father Richard O’Rourke, pastor of St. Paul Chong Ha-sang Parish in Harker Heights. The evening begins at 6:30 pm and will end around 8:30 pm. Contact Cedarbrake to register or for more information. Transformed by Faith, January 16 We will spend this day reflecting on the gifts of five women whose courageous actions impacted the world (Sojourner Truth, Thea Bowman, Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks and Harriet Tub-man). Their fearlessness and faithfulness changed lives because they embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Come and learn about these incredible women; who they were and what they did. Beverly Collin will facilitate this day. Contact Cedarbrake to register or for more information. Cancer Survivor’s Retreat, February 20 This retreat is a time for cancer survivors to come together to share their stories. Wanda Gibson is a business owner, spiritual director, and cancer survivor. Mrs. Gibson will lead this prayer-ful, winter day of reflection, meditation, discussion and move-ment thru the survivor’s journey into the present moment. Whether you are celebrating one week or twenty years since your cancer experience you are invited to join us in courageous company as we allow our mind, body, and spirit to engage, heal, rest, renew, and rejoice. Contact Cedarbrake to register or for more information.

ADORATION
EVERY FRIDAY
7 AM TO 5:30 PM Everyone that spends time in adoration of Jesus develops a personal relationship with Him, and grows in love and holiness. Quiet time with the Lord in adoration enables people to listen and recognize His voice as He speaks to their hearts.
Catholic Services Appeal Today is our annual diocesan Catholic Services Appeal. The Catholic Services Appeal gives us the opportunity to act togeth-er as a diocesan family: helping those in need, promoting a cul-ture of life, encouraging religious vocation, and educating our youth. Every gift regardless of the size, is vital to the success of the Catholic Services Appeal. Our goal this year is to have 100% participation. Please give in accordance with your means.
November 6-12 is National Vocation Awareness Week. The estimated 68 million Catholics in America make up less than 6 percent of the 1.2 billion Catholics in the world. Nonetheless, we have the fourth largest Catholic population of any country. We are far behind the vocation booms in India, Poland, and Af-rica. Various Catholic youth movements are growing stronger, and many organizations are urging a “culture of discernment". Fifty percent of the Catholic Services Appeal funds are used for priestly formation and support, with a large portion of that going toward the education of our seminarians. Remember that all vocations come from regular families, parishes, and schools—even from your own family!
