excellent opportunity for teens to, not only experience a wonderful

weekend out at our National Shrine of St. Therese, but to have a beauti-

tor of this retreat is George Watt, and our co-director is Ashleigh Watt.

If your teen is interested in signing up, feel free to reach out to either of

them or myself and we'll give you all the info! Please keep our retreat

Family Promise Volunteers Needed

June 11-18

Family promise began hosting their first families

this week at Chapel by the Lake. Our parish will

be responsible for hosting families during the

week of June 11- 18. We will need many volun-

teers to help with various tasks during that week.

Volunteers are needed to prepare meals, set up

the area on the Sunday before the families arrive,

take down the area the Sunday the families leave,

do laundry, and act as hosts each day to stay with

families for various activities and overnight.

Hosting will take place in shifts. There will be a

breakfast shift, dinner shift, evening shift, and an

overnight shift each day. At least two volunteers

are needed for each shift.

Families arrive at a church location on Sunday

afternoons/evenings; share a continental breakfast

each morning; are picked up and taken to the

Family Promise day center with a sack lunch; re-

turn in the evenings for dinner and to stay the

night; and are picked up the following Sunday

morning.

This is a great opportunity to serve our commu-

nity as an individual or a family. Training will be

provided Tuesday May 23rd and Saturday June

3rd, times to be announced.

For more information or to volunteer please

contact Theresa Zimmerman at 957-6814 or

email her at [email protected] or

Mary Lou Madden at [email protected] or

place your name and contact information on the

sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the

back of church.

Deacon Mike Monagle:

The Bible and the Virgin Mary

The month of May has traditionally been desig-

nated by the Catholic Church as a special time to

honor Mary Mother of God. This month is

particularly notable as the Church celebrates the

100th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady

at Fatima.

But many people don’t fully appreciate Mary’s

role in mankind’s salvation. Exactly who is the

Blessed Virgin Mary? What is her role in God’s

plan for the world? What vital role does she play

in our lives?

If you would like to find the answer to these

questions and better understand how essential she

really is to your faith journey, come join us in ex-

ploring the video series, The Bible and the

Virgin Mary. Based upon Dr. Scott Hahn’s

bestselling book Hail, Holy Queen, this 12 week

series unveils the mysteries of Our Lady.

Sessions begin Thursday May 18th, 6:30pm, St.

Peter’s Hall, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic

Church. Each episode is approximately 30

minutes, followed by prayer and discussion.
