Laboratory for staple fibres
Fibre properties such as low-pilling, stretch, durability and elasticity with excellent recovery powers have conquered the market.
In our laboratory the physical qualities of single staple fibres are tested.
The slightest deviation in the fibre quality could result in serious processing problems at later stages.
Therefore we focus on the analysis of:
• fibre fineness
• maximum tensile strength and elongation
• crimp properties
• shrinkage (even at very short fibre lengths) in hot air or boiling water
• staple length
• special tests for low-pill fibre types
• reflectance measurement and moisture management characteristics

Standard tests such as:
• tensile tests
• shrinkage and shrinkage force
• resistance tests
• yarn evenness
• yarn twist, entanglement, hairyness
• crimp properties of textured yarns
• abrasion effect and friction test
We are also able to perform special tests such as:
• thermal mechanical analysis
• abrasion properties
• colour lightfastness and light stability
• colour measurement
• hydrolysis resistance
and much more.
Our test parameters can be adapted specifically to the respective test situations. You describe your problem and we discuss with you ways of solving it.

Laboratory for fabrics
Clothing should be low-pill, breathable, easy-care, low-crease, compatible with the skin and durable –even when worn intensively.
Fabrics for interior furnishings should feature dimensional stability, easy care qualities and beauty. Most important, they should also be flame retardant.
Technical fabrics should possess the properties adapted to their particular end uses.
Apart from carrying out tests on current conditions of use, our laboratory is also involved in the trademark approval process.
We are your partner for testing with regard to:
• fabric construction
• various tensile tests
• determination of puncture resistance
• abrasion resistance
• pilling resistance
• mace snag tests
• resistance to light and light fastness
• colour measurement
• fastness of dyeing and printings
• permeability to water
and much more.
We test according to current national and international standard test methods, internal working procedures, but we also take account of customer preferences.

Laboratory for complaints analysis service
Something is not as it should be? Now it is vital to locate the root cause of the damage, quickly and competently.
We do not want to provide you with single testing data only. In order to avoid premature conclusions and making shure, that all important details are taken into account, all analysis results are collected and interpreted in this service unit, which is reponsible exclusively for complaints management.
Please note, that complaints, involving materials m ade from Trevira products, have to be managed by your contact in the technical customer service.
• We master all methods from testing up to generating substantial examination reports
• We define the methods of analysis.
• We coordinate the whole sequence of analysis.
• We strive for optimal results at minimal cost.
In order to achieve best performance, we use – if authorized by the customer –our internal ressources for cross-functional discussions on expert level.

Laboratory for light microscopy and SEM
We enable you to see the structures ofmaterials and causes of damage, which are not visible to the naked eye.
Before testing can start, however, the test samples need to be prepared . In our lab, we use all procedures from simpler methods up to microtome sections, cuttings and plasma treatments.
In light microscopy, we analyse all materials and problems by incident light, transmitted light, dark-field microscopy, phase contrast microscopy, polarizing microscopy, interference microscopy and fluorescence microscopy.
In scanning electron microscopy and in microanalysis, we visualize, with a great depth of field, the smallest details in the range of nanometres. With our energy-disperse x-ray spectrometer, we frequently analyse samples of chemical elements in sample sizes of just a few µm².
We take photos , interpret and comment on all issues related to staple fibres, filaments, intermediates, textile fabrics (like woven fabrics, warp-knit fabrics, knitted fabrics and nonwovens) and machine components – be it for a routine test or in a complaint case.
We are your competent partner, when it comes to questions like longitudinal view, cross-section, transparency, dye penetration, profile, length measure-ment, particle size, optical damage assessment, photo documentation, contamination, thermal and mechanical damages, inclusions in fibres and filaments, cracks, oligomer deposits and similar issues.
