The idea for this book was born from a game invented topass the time during their long captivity. Held as hostagesin Syria for 10 months, Nicholas Henin and Pierre Torres asked each other: Which animal would you like to be? Whichrepresents you the best? The hedgehog came as the answer and the story they wanted to tell took shape. While looking for his food, Daddy Hedgehog ventures intoa picnic basket full of food: but the basket is soon carriedaway, taking the hedgehog far from his home. Trapped ina box by a little boy who would like him to be his friend,he manages to escape but, desperate for food, accidentlyswallows some poison he finds on his way. He meets a ratwho looks after him and gives him the strength to returnhome. After many adventures and encounters of variouskinds, Daddy Hedgehog finally returns home to his family.

Echoing the narrative of a young troubled teenager, this is the story of a group of immigrants fleeing theirnative Eritrea in a quest for a new beginning.Summer 2006. Milla, a young Italian of 17, returns with herparents to the Island of Lampedusa to spend the summerholiday in their old family home, where she hasnt set footin for the past 10 years. The atmosphere is very heavy, haunted by the memory of her young brother Manuele whosuccumbed to illness when he was only a few months old.Little by little, the breathtaking beauty of the island manages to lift Millas spirits, and she soon makes a friend,Paola, an older student. Lampedusa, also known as theSalvation Island, gradually works its charms and seems tobe holding true to its reputation for our troubled teenager. But ones definition of heaven and hell couldnt be moredifferent...Only a few kilometres ashore, and stacked aboard a tinydilapidated dinghy, a group of Eritreans are trying to fleetheir own country after having risked their lives on manydifferent occasions and endured many sufferings. Theirmemories and voices alternate with Millas story from thea raging sea where their lives are at stake...Once again, Annelise Heurtier delivers a poignant andpowerful piece of fiction, and manages to give the issueof immigration the voice and human dimension it deserves.

Penelope Green 4 titlesBy Beatrice BottetAvailable16 cm 32 cm352 pages15

A great series with a very strong female heroine. The writing of this series is engaging and captivating andthe world of Penelope Green is intriguing and mysterious, fraught with danger and unexpected turns of eventmaking each book a fast paced and very exciting read. There are also distinct repetitive features: Penelopes fiercely independent will, the development of a semiromancewith her bodyguard, Cyprien Bonaventure, and her nosefor a story (and for danger!).Interestingly, the author has chosen to set the stories ina lost time, the late 19th century, when female characterswere rarely independent, so Penelope Green is a very distinctive and unusual character, which creates a strong follow-ability.
