THE PROBLEM

THE SOLUTION

As one of the most prestigious institu-tions in the world, Harvard University , a private Ivy League research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has centu-ries of history and an enormous influ-ence over the global business world.

Harvard University also happens to be a client of inWhatLanguage, a client which we take great pride in working with. inWhatLanguage has worked with two different departments at Harvard including:

Harvard Business SchoolHarvard Media Department

When working with the Business School, we at inWhatLanguage listened to recordings of several executives, CEOs and other high-level individuals from or-ganizations, including many Fortune 100 Companies, around the world. These recordings covered subjects ranging from marketing, operational efficiency, leadership management, and many other facets of business practices and methods.

Harvard Business School required a full and thorough transcription of each interview, first into English and then translated into 5 different languages in-cluding Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese. In total, inWhatLan-guage transcribed and then translated over 30 hours of content.

Harvard Business School did not re-quire any post-production services (in which inWhatLanguage would have put content back into the videos and/or

added subtitles). Though they required no post-production efforts, inWhatLan-guage made the effort to prepare the final translation in a format that would be the most convenient for the client by adding time coding for every single sen-tence, and organizing it all into an Excel spreadsheet. We translated the content, distributed the content into individual rows, and added helpful time stamps so that subtitles could be added into the video in the appropriate spots at a later time if needed.

Had Harvard required help with adding subtitles to the video, inWhatLanguage would have able to take on that project with ease as well as the inWhatLan-guage team has proven themselves as experts in captioning, but as always, we are perfectly adaptable to the specific needs of each and every client.

Our full A-to-Z translation service includes transcribing of a script file into English, translating it accordingly, and following up the process with post-pro-duction audio/video engineering back into the original video complete with subtitling. Alternatively, inWhatLanguage will happily complete only the parts of the process that the client requires such as transcription of script only, only translation or proofreading of the full text.

When working with the Harvard Media Department, we completed a very simi-lar project. An internal team took care of their translations this time, but they had some videos of interviews that they asked us to proofread after their team had translated them to ensure accuracy

inWhatLanguage has had many op-portunities to work on large projects for a wide variety of clients, but none no more respected and influencial than Harvard. Having Harvard’s trust in man-aging important projects that concern some top, worldwide executives from all over the world says a lot about the quality of work that inWhatLanguage provides.
