Case Incident I

“IF TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE, ARE FOUR EVEN BETTER?”

Answer of Q1:

I think Maggie has made a rational decision as this is a family matter. Her uncle left her $100,000. Maggie has used the emotional intelligence approachby obtaining the consent of her family members in making decision of investment.

It can have two impacts; if her focused group has some good background in investment portfolios then the decision would be right. Otherwise she wouldhave taken the wrong decision in involving too many people as too many cooks spoil the broth.

Answer of Q2:

I would definitely go with the option 2 as this involves a good ROI (Return On Investment). As far as risk is concerned, every investment involves someamount of risk but we have to take calculated risk and we should avoid keeping all our eggs in one basket to diversify the risk.

Answer of Q3:

Individuals may have different risk attitudes. Risk-averse people might choose an option which involves very low risk. Risk-seeking will definitely gowith the option which involves moderate to high risk.

Answer of Q4:

When people are in groups, they make decision about risk differently from when they are alone. In the group, they are likely to make riskier decisions, asthe shared risk makes the individual risk less. Maggie’s family would have chosen the second option which involves moderate risk. As also mentioned inthe case that Maggie’s current salary is adequate to meet her current living expenses, therefore, she can bear the moderate risk factor by enjoying theprofit.

Answer of Q2:

The other ways to build effective teams and increase team work among company employees are as follows –

By arranging workshops, trainings and seminars on teambuildingBy showing motivational and full of team spirit movies.By displaying teambuilding quotes in the officesBy organizing teamwork exercises, games and other indoor and outdoor activitiesBy pasting posters and articles depicting the team spirit.By giving team assignments.

All above mentioned alternatives are very effective and useful in building cohesive teams and has the potential to deliver a range of intangible benefits thatwill ultimately make the company more productive and better equipped to reach and accomplish the strategic objectives.

Answer of Q3:

Companies should either give less burdening exercises or send the employees who lack athletic talent but are still pressured to participate in physicalactivities with their colleagues on training workshops to face the dynamic environment. Team building for corporation and organizations is primarily aimed

for improving team performance which ultimately boost-up the organization’s output. A variety of practices can be held for team building activitiesranging from simple bonding activities to sophisticated activities designed to develop a team, including group assessment and group dynamic games.

Some organizations need team building activities for improving team productivity, motivating a team, improvising communication skills, makingthe workplace more enjoyable, reducing work deviance and getting everyone onto “the same”, hence setting team goals in the lieu of

Poor performance exerted by the low athletic ability employees shows that they are inefficient and incapable of the other curricular activities than the

usual work. Usually, personnel having low athletic ability get easily tired, frequently feeling stressed out and fatigued, and these are factors that affect theirperformance enormously, thus resulting in disappointment and demotivation, other peers and seniors think that they are incompetent and inactive,

affecting their status unfavorably in the organization.

Answer of Q4:

Teamwork can be enhanced when team members are not often in direct contact with one another by acquiring the aid of electronic media tools such as

video conferencing, online training programs, motivational educational movies, CDs, DVDs and etc.
