From the back door, you can immediate-ly see the increase in usable space. The deep end of the pool remains, but the ja-cuzzi has moved to the rightof the door, and is now raised. The deck has also been shortened, and brick columns have been moved to provide better access to the backyard.

The most noticeable difference is the re-moval of the shallow end of the pool. The paving and brick trim remain in the same place, but where there was water is now a lawn that stretched all the way back to the wall. You can also begin to see just how short the deck has become.

From the Front Gate

From the Back GateFrom the back gate, you can see how the new deck and trellis stretches over the back of the house, providing better access to the backyard as well as a shady spot to sit and watch kids play in the pool, or just enjoy a cold iced tea. You can also see how the raised area behind the pool pro-vides a planter and higher vantage point.

The ‘New’ Pool

The Jacuzzi water falling into the pool creates soothing tones as it echoes off the back wall

and all over the yard.

The raised back pavilion and bench overlooks the pool and yard and gives a spot for the

‘lifeguard’ to sit, and watch over all the outdoor activites.

Room for the Plants

The two gardens behind the garage provide space for both Cathy’s to-

matoes and Tim’s hot peppers. The paved spot allows for potted plants and herbs, while the larger garden allows a wider variety of fresh fruits

and veggies, as well as avocado, plum, and apple trees in the back

The raised back pavilion also provides a planter which will

help shade the yard and block out some street noise. It also is

very visible from the den.
