CAREP ® FAQ Who is eligible for membership?
Any individual employed in the housing industry including real estate agents, mortgage professionals and closing agents.
Do you have to be from the Caribbean and Latin America to join?
No. Many of CAREP's members are not from the Caribbean and Latin America who serve homebuyers and share a passion for our mission.
Does the organization function nationally or internationally?
Both. CAREP is a national organization but also functions at an international level and has a number of local affiliates throughout the country. Each affiliate is a legally independent organization that has an affiliate relationship with CAREP National. All affiliates are required to sign a licensing agreement and subscribe to a specific code of principle and ethics. Members of CAREP chapters are by default members of CAREP International as well.
CAREP ® FAQWho are CAREP's leaders?
A national volunteer board of directors governs CAREP,
sets policy priorities and provides guidance to the staff. The
board is comprised of real estate practitioners and
corporate executives from across the United States, the
Caribbean and Latin America.
Where are CAREP members Located?
CAREP has members in 33 Territories across the North
America, the Caribbean and Latin America.
CAREP ® FAQ What are some of the organizations primary legislative issues?
CAREP's legislative agenda is squarely focused on policy changes and regulatory
reforms aimed at ending fragmented real estate practice in the Caribbean and Latin
American region, Advocating for policy on sustainable homeownership for
underserved consumers, and promoting a collaborative business environment in
which small businesses (real estate practitioners) can thrive.
How can CAREP help me as a real estate professional?
CAREP's number-one mission is to educate real estate professionals of the region
about the mutual benefits of collaborating. CAREP will also launch their MLS Web
application giving All agents and brokers access to a comprehensive search engine
database of all real estate available for sale in the region. Through CAREP online,
events, webinars and chapter meetings, practitioners are exposed to a range of
experts and business-based material that helps them increase their business and
deliver better service to their clients.
CAREP ® FAQ CAREP conferences and meetings also provide an invaluable forum for members to network
with other like-minded professionals to exchange ideas about unique marketplace challenges
that come with serving homebuyers.
How does CAREP help the Minority consumer? By empowering real estate professionals to better serve their Minority clients, CAREP
believes it will ultimately increase the Minority homeownership rate. While CAREP
International does NOT have specific programs geared to Minority consumers, local chapter
affiliates often engage in homebuyer education events.
How can I be more involved with CAREP? Join CAREP online or a local chapter, if one doesn't exist in your area; heed the call to start
one. Your exposure to other real estate professionals that work with the Caribbean and Latin
American community will empower and revitalize you. CAREP members share a keen
passion and commitment about the challenges of homeownership and advocate to end

CAREP ® FAQ Someday I may want to serve on the CAREP board, how are
board members chosen?
To become a board member you must be nominated by a current
board member. Submit your Bio. It will be reviewed by the executive
committee. If its approved, your nomination is put to a vote by the
board and you will be notified of the results.
