CareerConnect is an online database management system designed solely for the needs of Robert Morris University students, alumni, and employment partners. Some important features include the following: Upload and manage multiple documents (resumes, cover letter, portfolio pieces), search job and internship postings online, utilize the Resource Library, view Career Events in all campuses, apply to job postings, view where your resume has been referred and much more.

To access CareerConnect, go to www.robertmorris.edu/careerservices. Then click under CareerConnect, Student/Alumni Log in.

Log into the system using your Username and Password.Your username is your RMU log in and your password is your Blackboard password. If you do not know your login or password, go to the Log in Center on the RMU website.

To update your profile: Click on the tab My Account and select My Profile. You will see a section containing Personal Information, Demographic Information, Skills, Additional

Information, and Miscellaneous Information. Each section, except for Demographics, will have an Edit link. Click on the Edit link to edit the fields within the section. Carefully go through each section and complete and/or edit all of the fields.

Make sure to click on the Save link to save your changes.

To upload your documents: Click on My Account and select My Documents. Click on the Upload File link under Resume/Cover Letter/References Browse your document, name it and select Upload File Link.

Note: When uploading more than one document, set your primary resume as your default. In the action area you will notice that your document is pending until your Career Advisor approves it.

Note: You may upload more than one resume but you must set one resume as Default. Meaning, the default resume will be the one that will be sent out to employers. If you would like to send a different resume to an employer other than your default, let

your Career Advisor know.

If this is the first time uploading a resume you cannot apply for jobs until your advisor has approved your resume. If you already had an existing resume and you upload a new resume you can still apply to jobs using your previous approved Default resume

To search for jobs, internships and co-op opportunities: Click on Jobs and select Job Search. Fill in the search criteria to narrow down your job search OR just click the Search button, with no

criteria, to view all jobs. Click on the Job ID to see the specifics of the positions and how to apply.

What do stars mean? You will now be able to star jobs as favorites. These starred jobs will be accessed through a new

left navigation menu for easy searching. Once you have applied to a job it will be marked with a green star, so it will be easy to track jobs to

which you have already applied.

You will notice a new “Star” column on the job search results page. This column could contain stars of 3 different colors, each color representing a different action on the job.

Grey Star: This star means that no action has been taken on this job by you. ● Jobs with a gray star are NOT favorite jobs, nor has a referral been submitted. You can make this job a favorite by either clicking on the Grey Star or clicking on the “Add to Favorites” button in the job profile.

Note: If you would like to have your new resume to be the default resume (the resume that will be sent out to employers automatically) make sure to click as [Set as Default].

Note: If your resume is in the Pending section it has not been approved by you Career Advisor. Once it has been approved, it will be in the below section..

Note: This section shows the documents you have Pending and are awaiting approval from your Career Advisor.

Gold Star: This type of star represents you have noted this job as “favorite” job. ● Favorite jobs can be accessed through a special “My Favorites” menu on the left navigation bar. You also have the option to un-favorite the job by clicking the “Remove From Favorites” button on the job profile.

Green Star: This type of star represents a job you have already submitted your resume to. ● Green Starred jobs will also appear in the “My Favorites” menu on the left hand navigation bar. If you go into the job profile you will be able to view the Referral by using the “View Referral” button.

My Favorite JobsThis feature allows you to mark jobs that you are interested in for easier access later on. You will

now be able to conduct a more organized search and track your job search process more easily.

Email Job to a FriendYou will have the ability to email a job in CareerConnect to a friend. You can access this feature

when you are viewing a job posting. The “Email to a Friend” icon will appear in the upper right hand corner of the job profile. When you click on it an email window will open, allowing you to enter the email address where the job should be sent.

Searching for Career Events: Click on the Career Events link. You will see a list of all current Career Events (Career Fairs, Workshops, Companies on Campus). To view the details, employer’s registered and/or RSVP, click on the Career Event’s name.

Note: Not all events accept RSVPs or allow students to search the list of employers registered.

Viewing your Activity Click on the My Account tab, then select the My Activity link.

There are 4 types of activity that you can view:1. Referrals – These are resume referrals that you have submitted to an employer’s job or

our office has submitted on your behalf.2. Placements – These are job or internship placements you have had and those details. 3. Schedules – (not typically used) The Schedule Activity shows any interviews, information sessions, or waiting lists that you are signed up to attend. 4. RSVPs – These are the Career Events that you are currently RSVP’d to attend.

Saved SearchesThe Saved Searches function allows the student to save Employer Searches under Quick Links. This allows for faster searching if you are always running the same searches. For example, if you are always looking for ‘accounting jobs’, do a job search for accounting positions. When you get your results page, click on Save Search. You will get a new screen indicating to name your saved search.

In the above example, Accounting is the name of the search. Then the saved search will appear on your Home Page under Quick Links. If you decide to remove the saved search, click on the red X. You will get a prompt confirming your request. Click “OK” and the search will be deleted. If you are not able to view your account in CareerConnect, please contact your Career Advisor or send an e-mail to [email protected] Please note: If you are a Freshman, your CareerConnect profile will be available Week 3 for your first quarter. Thank you for using CareerConnect!
