Consolidatingthebasics

Imaginghasmadegiganticstepsoverthelastdecadesandnowformsanimportantandirreplaceablepartofmoderncardiology.Ithasshownitspotentialforunderstandingcomplexpathophysiologies,suchasinheartfailureorcardiacremodeling,largestudieshaveprovenitsdiagnosticaccuracyandvalueinpredictingoutcome.Wearenotonthebrinktodemonstratecomparativeeffectivenesstofullyembedimagingintherapeuticpathways.Therearestilllargeknowledgegapsconcerningaccurateandreproduciblequantification,establishingnewreferencestandards,providinglargescaleaffordableutilizationandavoidingover-andunderutilization.

Imagingthefuture

Thefuturewillbringfurtherrapidchangesrangingfromincreasedabilitiestomeasurenovelparameters,suchascellularsizeandfunction,furtherdecipherpathophysiologiesandbythatprovidethenecessaryknowledgeforprecisionmedicineaswellastheconnectionbetweenindividualabnormalitiesandtherapy(precisionmedicine).

TheInstituteofExperimentalandTranslationalCardiovascularImaging

ThenewInstituteisequippedwithstate-of-theartmagneticresonanceimaging,computedtomographyandechocardiographyandstrategicallyplacedasanindependentresearchinstitutebetweencardiologyandradiologytohelpshapingthisfutureintheinterplaybetweenscienceandclinicalapplication.
