Auto Expert

• Kayleigh calculated the velocities of both cars as the collision occurred. The results showed that the collision on the Wagon was way stronger than the force on the SUV. The wagon had a velocity of 12m/s, while the SUV had a velocity of 2.83m/s.

Collision Expert

• Chris found the speed that the SUV was going when the collision occurred. While the Wagon was at a complete stop so its speed was zero, the SUV was going 39 km/hr. He also found the momentum of both the vehicles after the collision. The Wagon had a momentum of 24000 kg/m/s., and the SUV had a momentum on 8490 kg/m/s.

Investigator

• I found the kinetic energy before and after the collision. This information is used to determine what type of collision occured. The Wagons kinetic energy before is zero, while the SUVs is 175933.35. The kinetic energy after the collision for the Wagon was 144000, while the kinetic energy for the SUV came in at a low energy level of 12013.35.

Conclusion Made

• The collision had all the characteristics of an inelastic collision. Both the cars left deformed after the collision, and the momentum was not the same before and after the collision. Also, the cars did not stick together. Leaving it not possible to be a elastic collision or a perfectly inelastic collision. The SUV broke the law of speeding.
